Im stumped for ideas. There are some people here with good taste in muzak.

Im looking for something to learn on guitar, preferably metal.

something on a similar difficulty level to death.

any ideas?

Necrophagist - Only Ash Remains.

Try that one on for size.

LOL. good choice, but no. I can do the first 8 or so bars at about a third the speed of the actual song...

Nice. I honestly wasn't even expecting you to even try it.

Seriously, though. Try Synaptic Plasticity by Blotted Science. A very nice song for getting you up to Death speed (and easy enough to slow down if you need to). It gives your hammer-ons a nice work out, and for the most part, it doesn't require any ridiculous hand spasms to pull off (I'd stay as far away from Jarzombek's solos as humanly possible, though). Don't know how easy it will be to find written music for it, though (I have an easy enough time figuring music out by ear). The random time signature changes might be a little hard to wrap your brain around at first, but stick with it. I always like to rely on Synaptic Plasticity to get me up to snuff if I've been away from my guitar for a while.

Good luck with that. If you can't handle it (nothing I won't be able to understand, Ron Jarzombek can get pretty ridiculous), I'll see what else I can pull out of my head.

or you can go for both metal + classic hybrids.
