i'm new to warhammer only played about 1 year and a half. so far the hardest model i've come by is the the rhino or any other tanks with the rhino shell (predators and vindicators) I am sure there there are a lot harder games workshop models to assemble, any opinions?

the land speeder has only thin point of contact and not many of them, doesn't hold together well at all.

The key modelling tool for the landspeeder is:

Rubber bands. Very useful in getting the bits to stay together while the glue sets (and if you use plastic cement insteado f superglue, you can assist by pushing the bits together and the bands will hold it in place).

The hardest to assemble I've ever had was a CoD building. Lugs or tabs would help with aligning things. (Pegasus stuff goes together FAR easier).

hardest figures for me to assemble would have to be any metal pewter peices. They never want to stay together and the remaining Tyranid metal models are just a pain in the rear.

Other than that, not to much I guess I got lucky with my Land Raider Crusader it was very easy to put together...except when I broke the hinge for the front door. :(

My FW Hive Tyrant has some issues though that I'm having to work out. The wings seem to be to heavy for the body and actually bend the model at its legs to one side making it un-even. I think I might have to find a way to pin it to another base and possibly do some remodeling on the legs to make them stronger. Because as it is right now nothing fits under his right wing when placed on the battlefield.

2nd edition Beast of Nurgle. Could never work out how exactly it was supposed to go together without huge gaps, it was like parts were missing. Eventually the whole thing had to be packed with milliput.

Penitent Engine. Many of their large multi-part metal minis, greater daemons don't look much fun.

Not 40k, but the Balrog and Fellbeasts for LOTR are worth a special mention.

Penitent Engine hands down, end of discussion.

Large, Metal, on legs, small points of contact...UGH!

To top it off after assembly it totally sucks on the table!

Luckily I just put it together for the store's WH army when they came out.

There's no words for how much I'd like one of those. With everything I've build over the years, I'm reasonably confident I could built it to an acceptable standard. Of course, it'd take crazy mounts of time, clamps and epoxy glue.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I had a heck of a time trying to assemble my Big Mek with SAG. Superglue'ing it took about 2 hours total due to the fact that I couldn't get the pose I wanted without 2 sets of hands.

I agree with above posts the land speeders are not fun to build. A speed square (used in construction and wood working) works great for keeping COD building lined up.

I'll second the Penitent Engine as the hardest 40k model to assemble.

However, if you're looking for GW models in general, try the Ogre Kingdoms Gnoblar Scraplauncher. Now THAT is a difficult assembly (not to mention that you have no way of knowing wether or not you even did it right once you're finished).

I remmember what a pain in the the old landraider crusader hurricane bolters were,I swear I almost threw the whole kit out a window (and had it been mine I may have).
I have yet to build a Big Mek with a SAG so I could'nt say how hard they are to assemble, but when it comes to Orkz why do I end up having to spend an hour filing killa kanz just to get the halves to match up correctly?

Ill buy just the legs off you... I have plans for an ork dread which involve those legs. Saves me buying the whole kit.

For me the the hardest to assemble has been the Thunderfire Cannon. It's all metal. I must have spent an hour filing the rear 4-leaf clover piece to get the dang thing to fit between the two main pieces of the cannon. And that was just one piece that didn't fit together right. The two halves of the cannon also did not fit together right and required some filing and metal bending to get it to look decent. I couldn't get the front and back pieces to fit on at the same time. Ugh!
