Yep, if theres troops inside of it, just measure the distance to the hull of the vehicle, and its scoring

Making the Wave serpent Full of a troops even more fun. 24" flat out {4+ cover} then another 12" with star engines.

I did this and tank shocked one objective scared off a Nob Squad and took an objective to boot, all one turn.

Course, that means they have to get in the turn before. So for at least one turn they'll be in the transport without it getting the 4+ save for moving flat out (altho it might be able to get it for cover).

Does it mean anywhere on the hull or do you have to select an access point?

Here's an even more fun extension to that tactic.

Land raider.

Add troops, Land Raider is scoring.

Last turn (or turn 5 to be safer) tank shock a unit off of an objective, with your scoring land raider.

The land raider is big enough that your opponent can't get close enough in order to contest the objective, unless he charges into combat (and rarely do people think of charging into combat with their units, as they can't hurt the land raider, so it doesn't cross their mind). As such, they stand the width of the hull, +1 inch bubble of enemy units, and they can't contest it.

Wooooo

This is why I like 3D objectives, and pre-game discussion to ensure that they are Impassable.

Yeah, I know where I play you wouldn't be able to park a land raider on top of many, if any, of our objective markers.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

That tactic was used by me, and unfortunatley, against me once, in ard boyz last year. I find that in official events, objective markers are rarely qualified as impassable, its more like a 40mm base token dropped somewhere on the board, which you can roll right up on to.

In friendly games I see more things like 'The objective is the refinery!" which obviously you can't park on. However, in friendly games...I probably wouldn't use that tactic at all.

Yep! My fun list I would like to try is tons of LR's with min sized Scout squads in them. A 75 point upgrade to make the LR scoring - Armored Company Guilliman Style! I think in 2000 points you can get 5 of them, 3 LR with Scouts and two with Termies: 1 Assault in a LRR + 1 Regular in a LRC. Throw a Termie Chapie in with assaulters and you are good to go!

At that points level just run daemonhunters, kings of the land raider spam cheese, if you're so inclined.

3x Inquisitor, Plus 3x Land Raider Transports
1x Brother Captain (To unlock heavy support land raiders)
3x Land Raider Heavy Support Slots
3x 5 IST's (To goin the heavy support raiders, as inquisiors dont share their transports in the DH dex)

All for a mere 1771, without upgrades on the land raiders or squads

I looked in the Codex and only Grey Knights/Grey Knight Terminators/ Inquisitors can ride in LR's.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Single Grey Knight is left from a squad....

Single Grey Knight boards Land Raider....

Land Raider moves between two objectives that when they were being placed, you placed 1 EXACTLY 12" away from another. LR is pivotted in between the two such that each objective is less than 3" away from LR. (measure it out...LR's are THAT big)

Single PAGK claims two objectives.

I've always had it ruled in tournaments though that a squad can only ever claim one objective, or table quarter. So when the situation above happens, he can claim either, but not both, although I suppose you could claim one, and still be in contesting range for the other.

Have you had that work in a tournament shane?

Emrab: I actually checked the rules, only the unit a transport was bought for can ride in it, so I checked the heavy ones, and I think you're right, it specically says on the transport section of the GK Land raiders "The land raider xxx can carry up to xx power armor grey knight or xx grey knight terminators. I think that does indeed imply IST's can never be in LR's.

Seems that we've had some Land raider spammers inadvertently cheating maybe...

I've seen a single scoring unit able to claim multiple objectives in every tournament since 5e came out, including the LVGT.

Yep, the ruling for the US GTs was that a unit could claim/contest multiple objectives.

Huh, I didn't play any of the GT's after 5th came out, just local ones, and it was always ruled against.

Neato, thanks for the info

Yeah I looked it up as well the only thing the stormtroopers can ride in is a chrimera. However 6 of them can shoot lasguns from it thanks to the new FAQ. Plus it has 2 fire points so it is nice for friendly games.
