As far as I know, there never existed the possibility to take ANY wargear item more than once.

The entry states you "May take any of the following", and the options are listed in the singular. The entry for attack squig does not read "attack squigs..... +xx points each". Try not to read too much into things.

Moz:
You: "Hold on, you rammed, that's not a tank shock"
Me: "Ok so what is a ram, lets look at the rules."
Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?"

I was going to make a crack about 15 multimeltas on my landraider... but it says "a multimelta" which i could still argue means I could take multiple but the ork codex just lists"-attack squig"

So you are right it doesn't say that there is a limit... but now you are just being a dick.

You can take one.

Wait you can do the same thing with digital weapons.

He's obviously not the first person to come up with this kind of question as the Dark Angels FAQ has the question if players are allowed to purchase the extra models for a unit multiple times, as you can add X amount of models to some DA units for X points and someone obviously asked GW if that meant you could keep adding more and more models to the unit.

But yes, all the codexes work under the presumption that the list of options is a list of stuff you can choose to take or not take once except where specified otherwise.

Yeah just one, dont even try to pull it on someone in a game, you wont make any friends or get any more games and youll get a nice big fat ZERO for sportsmanship/Comp. Its like the Waaagh banner in that case you can take multiples (because there are mult. models although it would be hard to say why you have more than one, because fluff wise there is one per army.) but the effects dont stack (no 15 waaagh banners for a +15 WS to the unit). There are easier ways of making orks good, without having to try and find cheeseholes. Besides WB's dont usually last long anyway, go with the basic 105ish point boss and youll be good. Or run gazzy,, if you want a big nasty, he can kill a great squigoth all by his lonesome and go looking for more.

The only reason you'd might consider taking several Waaagh! banners in the same Nobz unit is for casualties purposes, as it wouldnt give increased cummulative bonuses.
