Any one use Reaper Primer with GW plastic models?
Spray painting for me is not the easiest thing for me to get setup and I like to reserve it for when I can do bulk paint jobs. I'm looking to use brush on primer for some smaller jobs like painting storm bolters on pintles or objective markers.
I'm just curious if any one might have some insight on using brush on primer with plastics.

I don't use the Reaper primer, but I do use Acrylic Gesso for brush on.
See thread: Priming with acrylic gesso - a primer (pardon the pun!)
It works wonders for me.

I've used it, with reasonable success. I like the Reaper Pro Paint series and the brush on primer works nicely when I miss some spots after spraying.
Problem is, they don't sell it in big bottles so it's only good for so many models. The gesso technique is one that's been raved about by several Dakkites, though, and gesso comes in pretty big bottles for about twice the cost of one RPP dropper bottle.

Thank you very much for the link!
I'm totally going to my local craft store to look for some gesso.

I've used both the Reaper and the gesso:
1. Reaper Brush-on Primer: high quality and smelly, dries within a few hours
2. Liquitex Gesso: high quality and stench-free, but it takes longer to dry, approximately 24 hours. Also cheaper.
I prefer gesso since it doesn't stink up the room.

That's interesting. My bottle of RBOP doesn't have a strong odor and it's usually dry within 10-20 minutes at the most.

Is the Reaper Brush on primer dilutable? or should I not be mixing it with water

It smells like water soluble house paint, so you probably can dilute it with water. I've done it without a problem.

I have also diluted it, although it may require multiple applications. It's already a bit sheer after drying, but primer doesn't need to be plastered on to do the job.

You sadly left out the best part of the article, getting to "watch paint dry". Thankfully, I just posted a video of it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqja-Z9nfrM

I use acrylic gesso from Liquitex. It can be thinned with water and coloured using acrylic paint.
It works fine on polystyrene and polythene (soft plastic) models. You can glob it on a bit thickish (not too much!) and it dries down to a very flat surface -- takes about 24 hours to dry completely
As with any painting, the model needs to be clean for the gesso to get a good grip.
I got my gesso tips from that Priming with Gesso article. There are some really good Modelling articles in the system so check them out.
