Crazed Spirit of the Defiler

Currently painting my World Eaters army and Fed up of stinkin' human flesh. Some of these guys have been maruading for 10k years - they would not have good skin!

Wondering if anyone can tell me how to get this colour of flesh (or something close) rather than the traditional flesh colour?

Cheers

It's hard for me to tell... You might want to try Reaper Pro Paint's #09048 Fair Highlight followed by a blue wash that's been watered down to near transparancy. The Reaper is a little on the warm side, but the blue wash will give it a slight blue/violet tint, which is what I see here. Finish up the highlights with the Fair Highlight mixed with Ghost White.

In GW, I think that would be something like Elf Flesh mixed with Kommando Khaki/Bleached Bone(?), followed by Asurmen Blue watered down, then the first mixture with some Space Wolf Gray added to highlight.

Dunno if it helps or if it's accurate at all, but it's my $.02. In any case, it wouldn't look that human!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Do you think Light Gray with a wash and purple highlights would come close?

I'll test both of these out this week and update.

Cheers for the info - any other ideas anyone?

Maybe go for a jaundiced yellow effect? But basically you're looking for cool colours which are traditionally seen as 'unhealthy' (along with yellow, of course).

You get a chance to do the test? I've been anxiously watching this thread.

For a pallid kind of flesh, I always use shadow grey as a basecoat, and progressively add white to it for the highlights, with just a touch of bleached bone in the mix, and end with a pure white highlight. Might sound like a weird color combination, but it really comes out like very pale, almost dead flesh.

Looks like this guy just progressively highlighted white on top of Shadow Grey, though. Possibly with a titch more black in the mix than straight shadow grey.
