Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Hey All
After doing alot of reading and looking over the net, nobody can seem to agree on the scale of a Warlord titan, so im going to use my own.
So after a bit I am going to use these sizes.
Height Will be 80cm/32"
Length 50cm/20"
Width 40cm/16"
Those are the rough sizes I am going to go for, they might change over time though, also I will be building a very solid model.
Some of my goals are to have a fully rotating torso and arms in both a up and down movement and lateral as well.
To do this I will be building the frame from steel.
I know it will be heavy but that does not bother me.
I will keep you guys informed.
let me know that you think.

Well after some rough drawing's, I have a very rough idea of the frame and how I want it to look, also I have made a choice the I want all the joints to be moveble .
SO comming up with ideas for them was a little tough but not to bad.
So far I have plans for the arms, hips, kness, ankles, waist also all the joints have to be lockable as well.
Althoguh putting them on paper to a real thing is going to be very intersting.
I am going to try for the look in the Apocloypse book but that is a very long way away.

A metal titan... hmm... Make sure he is well based and stable, the last thing you want is something that big made of metal crashing down on fragile plastic minis!!!!

Not much other choice with steel, other than welding it.

Dude... 32" is too damned tall!
Steel = ludicrous. I would not play you with that thing. Last thing I want is to spend the last 5-6 years painting my army and bulding my terrain just to have a Chrysler fall on it.

Well, as its still in the design stages, it can be changed to what ever I want.
I have not made up my mind on the materials yet, one option is steel, another is aluminum or fiber glass or pvc.
Problem there is no scale for these things and after doing many hours of searching on the net, closest I can find is the Reaver, which is about 16" High.
The Warlord Titan is about 50 % bigger than a Reaver, if I had to build a Apocloypse Titan it would be 3 meters Tall.
Also Warlord Titans are simply huge vechials I mean they carry troops and tanks in there legs.
They Fire Shells the size of tanks.
Also I want to build just It looks cool. I might never even play with it.
I feel the same about the bane blade tank looks awesome, but I would buy it just to build the model.
We Will have to see how it turns out, But a must for me is a solid frame must have a strong frame.

lol that was funny. nicely done. I agree the size seems WAY to damn big. Ive heard of people making those at 25inchs ish. I mean really a 3foot tall titan? thats a bit over done IMO. sides man just use PVC like others have done. its cheaper, lighter and easier to work with.

Wel lthats the problem with war hammer there is no scale for things of this size.
I have models from 16" to over 50" been made, it all depends on what you want to do and its called a scratch build
Besides I want to make it unquie and I have worked with metal before and I have access to all the tools I need.
Also only the frame is going to be metal not the whole thing.

Hey Guys sorry for the long delay, But its really hard to find the materials I needed for this Project, after much thinking and and a huge ammount of surfing and phone calls.
I finnaly found 2 places that sell what I am looking for.
I found an art shop that sells both the foam board and the plastic card, also decided on what material I am going to use for the frame.
I am going to use PVC 20 mm or 3/4' for the frame and foam board and plastic card for the rest.
Going to buy the pvc today for the frame and go from there.I will be buying the plastic card and foam board on the weekend, It is a bit a of a drive to get there.
I am keeping to the sizes I have set before, since its what i belive is the right size.
If I can I will take some pics of what I am doing.

16" + 50% of 16" = 24"?
EDIT: what the hell is going on with this quote thing?

Hmm, not sure what that's about....
Anyways, back to the Titan - a mate built one that was 36" tall and that seemed about right (maybe a little over but there's never been a definitive answer as to the scale).
The one thing I'll pass on from that build is that the whole thing is top-heavy. Whether you go for the cool old 'mars pattern' with the curvy carapace or the newer, bulky 'lucius pattern' (that was the one my mate made), you need to put all the weight in the legs and make the top from the lightest materials you can find.
His had a wooden frame for the legs and a foam top and he still had weight and balance issues. I'd recommend going with the steel frame for the legs and make sure they are firmly planted on a wide, heavy base. If you weld a square plate on top of the leg joins you should be able to mount the body on that (and if you're clever you can make it so that it comes apart there for easier transport and storage.
Hope this helps - look forward to seeing pictures as you progress.
