So I decided that I've spent long enough criticizing other people's modeling, photography, and painting, and that it's time to actually submit something. So here's a couple guardsmen of mine, a sergeant and a standard trooper. I didn't have adequate lighting here, and the photos are too big, but here they are. Critique me into the stone age.







And here's the sergeant:





The reason they look really gunky in some places is that I hadn't used spray primer before, and the cracks are chalk full of it. I oversprayed. The modifications to these guys are all 100% green stuff, except the bayonet on the sergeant which I just cut off a different gun. The mods on the first guy consist of; Carapace armour on the legs (knee pads, plates around the waste or just below, and thigh armour) and arms (below the shoulder plates). Then there's the padded gloves, the backpack, the visor and breather doodad, which has tubes connecting it to the airtank on the backpack, and the modded gun. The gun also is connected to to the backpack hellgun-style.

The mods to the Sergeant are also all green stuff, and consist of a visor, rank-indicating phallus-things on the head and shoulder, carapace on the legs, two stripe things on the laspistol, and one padded glove.

Congratulations! As I'm sure you can see, Dakka fixes the image size for ya.

And good work too. Neat despite somewhat overprimed... yellowness looks like you took the photos under fluroescent lighting though. Are the visors painted in a flat metallic colour? That's the only thing that really strikes me as odd.

I wasn't sure how to do the visors, and I'm not completely satisfied with that. It's Mithril Silver, which is difficult to highlight. I'm actually thinking of trying some non-metal-metal, but I don't know much about it yet.
