Pick an army you like the background of and the 'feel' of before you start jumpping into what is good and what isnt. If you prefer the way demonhunters feel then collect an army of those.

I agree with Regwon. You should choose whichever army you prefer the background & feel of, because then youll have more fun building your army & playing with them. Dont worry too much about which army is 'better'
That said, some armies are easier to use than others & if you do pick daemonhunters, be prepared for a steep learning curve.
Also, when youve made your choice, I wouldnt buy the whole army at once, youll just end up with piles & piles of half finished models & getting everything assembled & painted will feel like a chore. I think its more rewarding to build armies through playing:
Buy the codex, a HQ unit & a box of troops. Read the codex, assemble & paint your models. Then decide on another troops choice. Once theyre assembled & painted youre ready to play a few small games.
Once youve had some experience on the field of battle, choose your next unit based on the outcome of these games. (for example, you might find your army doesnt have any tank-hunting capability, so buy a heavy support choice).
anyway, thats enough waffling from me. Welcome to the hobby, & good luck!

Chaos is a powerful and flexible codex, with some good assault units, some good shooting units and a variety of magic powers and special characters.
Daemonhunters are very strong against daemon based armies but they suffer against many other types of army because of the high point cost of individual models which means they lack numbers, and they are specialised against daemons.
If you are picking between Chaos and DH, I would go for the Chaos as a beginner because they are going to be easier to play.
Keen players usually get a second army at some stage and that's your opportunity to start an army with a different playing style, once you have built up tactical experience.

I agree with most people in that you should pick your first army based on the fluff and the minis behind the army.
I have a both of the armies you are thinking about playing and to be honest Demonhunters are a very difficult army to start with because they are usually vastly outnumbered but they are great because if you decide to branch out to IG or Marines then they will stick with you all the way.
Chaos on the other hand have a very strong codex right now and have some very good combo's you can utilise.
That's all I got, hope it was helpful

11 Years ago I noticed the Eldar look and play like the Protoss from Starcraft...DONE! After thats all I played, this is a good suggestion.

Thanks for the responses!!
Well, I had chosen those 2 armies because I like the way they seem and a bit of their history, not about if they were the best or something like it
So I should start with the codex, 2 troops and 1 HQ, right?
Maybe I will start with the Daemonhunters to see how they are and later expand it with some Imperials (I've allways liked the hardest way of learning XD)
But I have another questions:
1) If I have Imperials with the daemonhunters, can I use the tanks of the Imperials (Leman Russ, Chimeras, etc.) or I have to pick others?
2) Do you know if GW will be making the DH codex anytime soon? and how can I know which rules are the ones that doesn't exist with in the new edition?
3) Do you have any suggestions about the HQ, I want an army that can be good in range and in melee, but that has a lot of range support, does the HQ affect this?
4) can I have a cookie? XD
Thanks a lot for your answers, we'll be seeing soon!!

I've seen a Chimera being used with Daemonhunters, so I'm certain that the Leman Russ can be used too. If this is the case, get a Leman Russ.
There are rumors of a new DH codex, that it will be merging with the Witch Hunters codex to make the Inquisition codex. You can ask a GW employee (assuming he knows what he's talking about) of what rules in the DH codex have been overwritten by 5th Edition.
HQ is a dude who's really good at everything, including costing a lot of points. He usually doesn't impact everyone else when it comes to actual fighting, but he might provide you with supportive effects (i.e., letting you use his Ld for your morale tests). If you use Space Marines with your DH, Chaplains are really nice HQs. Stick 'im with some Grey Knights and you've got a really killy CC unit.
And yes, you may have a cookie.

1) Daemonhunters have some units that can take Chimeras right in their own Codex, without even dipping into the IG 'Dex, like Stormtroopers. That said, they can take guard units with Chimeras and, yes, they have the option to take 0-1 Leman Russ as well as Sentinels. That's it, though. No Hellhounds, Basilisks, Demolishers or anything new showing up in the next IG Codex.
2) I doubt it. This year is supposed to be completely filled up, so it should be 2010 at the earliest. Ask around, and check the GW FAQ to look over poorly aged, or changed rules.
3) For Daemonhunters, your only choices are Inquisitor Lord and Grey Knight Hero. Both choices can take squads that can be tailored to close combat or ranged (Although the Inquisitor Lord is a bit squishy for CC) depending on your choices. Both choices also unlock several unit choices (The Inquisitor Lord allows you to choose Assassins, Daemonhosts, and even the craptacular Orbital Strike. The GK Hero allows you to include GK Land Raiders and Land Raider Crusaders, as well as GK Dreadnoughts.)
4) Well... Ok... But don't tell your mother!

Well now I'll go to see the FAQ, mmm I hope they release the codex soon.
Well really thanks a lot for the answers, now I'll get full of cookies XD, (and don't worry, my mom doesn't know XD)
Then maybe I'll get the Inquisitor lord so I can have some snipers and use the orbiltal assault for melee, so the IG can make the bullet pressure in the back rows (but I want tanks )
Thanks, maybe I'll be posting some pictures if I can get the troops soon!!
Cheers!!

Don't take the Inq Lord for Mr. Oh yeah I'm gonna shoot your HQ aww f*ck I missed (AKA Vindicare Assassin), take him for the Kool-Aid Man* (AKA Eversor Assassin).
Leman Russes are nasty, and knowing you want to use one, get one. It's always better to play with models that you think are cool. Like Ork Deff Dreads, people say they suck, I grabbed one because they look cool.
Hasn't failed me yet.
*I call him Kool-Aid Man because he quite literally comes bursting through the wall likely saying "OH YEAHHH!" and then making everyone he touches spill their Kool-Aid, since he doesn't carry any and is verrry angry about it. He blows up too.

It sounds like you like Grey Knights a lot but are wondering if Chaos Marines are a more competitive choice. My short answer is that Chaos Space Marines are easier to play because of their flexibility and generally more competitive because of their range of strong units. The more extended answer is that unless you only intend to play in tournaments, it probably doesn't matter! Daemonhunters are a perfectly competitive army depending on how you use them.... and boy, are there plenty of ways to do that!
With the Allies system you can mix and match with no less than four different army lists (Daemonhunters, Imperial Guard, Space Marines, & Witch Hunters), you've got a lot of options. If you want to have an easy-to-play army list, take Space Marines as your main army, Pedro Kantor as your HQ choice and as many Grey Knight allies as possible. If you want a pure Daemonhunters list, just stick with that codex and take whatever mix of Inquisitorial forces and Grey Knights as you wish. It's a little trickier to make sure you can take on a range of foes, but still entirely possible; Storm Troopers with meltaguns and Grey Knight vehicles with lascannons go a long way here, I've found. If you want to go pure Grey Knights it's trickier still since the Knights have weaknesses against mobile or heavily armored vehicles, but even here Dreadnoughts and Land Raiders go a long way towards making up the difference.
Honestly, I'd say play as the Daemonhunters for a few games. You probably will have challenges and might even lose handily, but you'll learn a lot about how 40k is played and can alter your army list to match. The only reason I'd recommend you personally play Chaos Marines over Daemonhunters is if you know that you don't take losing well and want to come to the table with an army that's going to kick ass. Otherwise, it sounds like you like Daemonhunters more.... so everything I know about this game tells me that's the army you'll enjoy.
Go forth and smite your foes, young Inquisitor!

If you use SMs as allies, you can't use Grey Knights(only the other Daemonhunter units, like daemonhosts and stormtroopers). SMs can take Grey Knights as allies, however.
