Storm Shield Librarian
By: realgenius

Anyone who has read the new Warhammer 40k Space Marine Codex knows how good Storm Shields have become. Now that they grant an invulnerable save that basically lets you survive two-thirds of the time no matter what hits you, you will want one where ever you can get it. And that includes on your Terminator Librarians. But how do you get a Storm Shield when one doesn't come with the Librarian model? And how about one that looks like something a Librarian would carry?

The answer can be found in the disgustingly large Librarian back banner. By trimming the top eagle off, removing a section of the rear banner pole and adding a plastic fist, you can get a nice looking Librarian Storm Shield without having to spring for the Storm Shield bit.

As you can see, the bit in question is very close to the size of a Storm Shield from the Assault Terminators box set.

Just grab a spare fist bit, trim part of the knuckles to fit the shield at an angle and cut away part of the banner pole to fit the fist.

Voila! Instant Librarian Storm Shield.

What are some of your quick bitz conversions?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

Killer as always, GD.

I had to convert a Dark Angels shield once. I didn't want to file off all the robed-figures and stuff, so I just applied a layer of greenstuff over the top of it, and pressed it onto a table in order to get it flat. I then used a needle file to get the edges and stuff flush. Putting a little icon in the middle of it finished the shield. If its ok I'll get you a picture of it later, if you're interested?

EDIT: Dark ANGELS, not Angles. Lol.

no, not a waste if you want a assault-oriented librarian. He has his psyker powers for shooting, if that is what you want. It gives you a huge invulnerable save, so it is very worth it.

Jack, Yeah...Storm Shields are FAR more effective on a Librarian than a Storm Bolter...

Fox, a pic would be awesome to add to the thread!

Ok then. Here is the shield, still needs a little work. I don't know what I was thinking priming the miniature when I wasn't done with the shield... it was late that night.
[Thumb - duelist.JPG]
My duelist that I wanted the shield for. Emporer's champion, or commander, it will find its way into a list someday.

[Thumb - duelist2.JPG]
Here is the actual shield. I still need to file everything flush, and add some more adornments. Purity seals, a wreath, heraldry label, etc.
