Barnsley South Yorkshire

Hi everyone, new to the forum, glad i found this place

Anyway, i'm looking for people to play against in South Yorkshire, or maybe join a small club and learning the game "properly" before i join a bigger club like the one's in Sheffield.

I did a search on google, found one club listed in Barnsley but it was from years ago and the contact info is no longer working so i'm guessing it has closed down.

Anyway back on topic, i have 2 armies Beasts of chaos and High Elf, i have been collecting or had have had an interest in Warhammer for around 13 years but i am yet to have a real game.

I have been through the rule book, i'm confident i know most of the major rules and will learn the rest during games.

Looking to play with people/groups over 20 (im 25).

If anyone want's to help me out send me a pm or add me on MSN, just to chat if need be.

Thanks all!

Thanks George, i might have found one in Hoyland, Barnsley but im waiting for a former member of that club to tell me if it is still open or not. Do any of your clubs take on new comers? I'm fairly confident with the rules, been over the rule book a good few times, i wouldn't mind a few 1k battles to break me in

Is your club on the Barnsley side of Sheffield of the other side?

All of them. The one I attend, Dysartes, doesn't play much (any) Fantasy but I'm sure Gimps and Wildcats do.

They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself - Mal.

Yeah, what do you play?

AFAIK the Doncaster Wildcats club is kaput. There used to be one that meets at the Sub Aqua club near the canal, not sure if it's still there.

We play Warmachine and Flames of War at Patriot Games in Sheffield on a Tuesday evening, there's also the Polish club on a Wednesday evening and a club at the university (both Sheffield).

Depending on whether you're north or south Barnsley Wakefield Warriors might be worth a go as long as they're still going.

I've considered going down myself, but play mostly at the Leeds Night Owls

Last I heard Wildcats was still there (from the venue owners daughter.)

And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

Then I have been to that one. I recall it well. Paranoia with the chap who had the CB radio, unusual issues with charging skeleton cavalry, and some guy getting shouted at for playing Risk.

The CBs were in the cars. We sat in the car-park in the pissing rain and played "Vampire" over the emergency band, and told lots of people to "look for the red church". I think the shouting was something to do with over-running kicking-out-time.

The rules discrepancy was the realisation (I think) that a unit of Skeleton Cavalry infinitely long could attack with every lance, even if only one rider was in contact, based on some oddity of them ignoring terrain. (Or something like that.) The only other thing I remember was a HUGE unit of flagellants, and leaving the club with a large pile of old plastic Imperial Guardsmen. Memorieeeeees....
