I was in Kay Bee Toys yesterday checking out the Going Out of Business stuff and found a couple of $5-10 buys that would make GREAT conversion projects for Orks. I picked up a military style semi truck for $7 that is going to make a kick-A truck for my boys, complete with diamond plate flat bed. Some home brew rails and a chop job and I should be able to put this thing together under $10 with some good bits left over for some terrain projects.

I figure I'll get $60 worth of model/terrain projects out of the investment. Could be something good to look into.

Ha! I did the same exact thing! I was specifically looking for tires to enhance the aggressive orky look of my Speed Freaks. I found some of those Hot Wheels mini Monster Trucks. The funny thing is, they are high quality enough that I can't get the stupid wheels off without breaking some of them. Good thing I got eight of the things for nine dollars! I'll probably head back too. Good luck with you're projects and hope to see your stuff up on the site.

KB is going out of business entirely. Sad day, I have a lot of good memories from KB toys, getting Robotech SDF1 and Althpa Fighters for like $10 each, picking up a 2' long star destroy for $10.

Funny, I can't ever remember paying full price there, it always seemed like everything was on clearance. Oh well.

With KB gone there's really no toy store chains left but Toys R Us. Sad day.

That's because you never did.

Kaybee was an "overstock" kind of place. They bought overstock toys, toys near the end of their run, toys with newer versions coming out, etc. and sold 'em. Everything was always discounted, because that's how they got them.

They were the big 'mall toy store' chain around here... I know when i was little I pestered my mom to let me go in and 'just look around' every time I saw one.

I went in a couple weeks before Christmas and the palce looked like a bomb had hit.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
