After an unexpected Christmas gift of 1 ork kannon, I've looked at the viability of including some more in my army. My current list usually includes 2X30 Mobs of boys and at least 1 trukk of boys*, Deffkoptas, a unit of shootas, da pyros, and 5 bikes(Non nobs), and 5 nobs(Aobr). I also make room for my SAG Big mek.

*Trukk used for my pyros.

At 20 pts a model I feel comfortable about putting 3 kannons and 3 zzap guns(30 pts ea) to add some much needed long range fire power to the boys.

Any opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Unit of 3 Kannons are cool, but I'd add Lootas before thinking about adding kannons.

As a regular opponent against orks, I would say their real strength at destroying heavies lies in PKs hidden into a mob of 30 boys. Not easy to destroy at range and almost impossible to deal with if they reach cc. As Prophet of Dakka said, lootas 1st, cannons 2nd.

Also with the new battlewagon, big guns can be carried around the field on a much stronger chassis.

So not to undermine the general feel of the army what model count of lootas would you suggest?

If you have the SAG mek, just pop him in w/ 1 unit of 15 (or less if you don't have the points) and see how it does. Its a pretty mean setup, capable of dealing whatever the opponent throws at you (that is providing the SAG does what you want it to).

Since I play for funsies I enjoy the randomness of the SAG. That being said, thanks for the advice Prophet and Lukus, looks like im gonna pick me up some lootas. Thread Mission accomplished.

If your playing for funsies try not to loota spam too much or your opponents will hate you, the loota is a ridiculously great unit but easily abused. Try to keep it on a low number count so that it remains effective but doesn't butt rape anything that gets in its sights.

The funny thing about your post Ratbarf is that the only opponents I play are family. My brother and father are the only peope of which i have played more than once due to my location. I might just have to spam some lootas to seek some revenge.
