Well, it seems that there is a decided lack of tactics threds for the orks i have decided to try and get a thred started about it
To get the ball rolling, even though i am only starting orks there is an ork player at my gc that uses 2 battle wagons both with 10 nobz and a warboss, they all have cybork bodies and painboyz. his basic tactic is to run them ford turn 1 and assult as soon as possable, it has proven effective against guard, elder and space marines. so far my chaos are the only ones to beat him.
The rest of his army just moves slowly up the field and captures objectives.
It would be nice to have a tactica thred for beginers so they have a place to go to get some infomation on the army.
and if anyone has any suggestions on how to organise the thred it would be greatly appreciated

That tactica is very good as far as it goes - which is limited to army selection. In 5th ed army selection has much less to do with the game outcome than how the army is employed on the table. That can't really be covered 1 unit at a time because it's much more about how several units are used together.
When I get time I might add a few thoughts either in this thread or the tactica.

I have only played 6 or 7 games with this setup, but it works very well up to now:
1 Big Mek, KFF, pk,as,cybork
1 Mad Doc grotsnik
2 X 15 lootas
15 kommandos, 2 burnas, Snikrot, cybork
20 Stormboyz, Nob bp, pk cybork
3 X 30 shootas, 3 BS, 3 Nob bp, pk
The lootas and shootas pound away and do a good job of it. When they try to flank your lootas, the stormboys jump in.
I hide the doc out of view of the enemy near a loota squad and he is awesome at mopping up for the stormboys.
If they don't flank beofre your reinforcements hit, then launch into them with the stormboys as the kommandos insert from behind. By the time all of this hell is resolving, the shoota mobs will be charging into CC.
It has worked well for me...

kormas: Nice double-post.
kormas: Nice double-post.
That tactica has been updated multiple times so it can work for 5th Edition. And it certainly does.
How Inigo would go about dealing with armor is with assaults, the best way to pop tanks. Especially if you're Orks, who don't have any reliable long-range anti-tank weapons. Nobs with pk are S9 on the charge, and you're whacking on the vehicle's rear-armor.

A couple of quick ones then.
Tip 1: Sarge, Which Ork Should I Shoot First? Target saturation is a big thing for orks. Make sure your opponent has a lot of things to shoot at so they split their fire and lose effectiveness.
To work, you need to present them with credible threats. An empty trukk, a Killa Kan with no weapons, and a Warboss with Meganobz isn't target saturation; it's 1 target with a couple of minor distractions. A trukk full of Ard Boyz, 2-3 Killa Kanz with Grotzookas, and a Warboss with Meganobz is 3 very potent threats and the opponent will have trouble dealing with all 3 at once.
One last point on target saturation: the targets need to be roughly equivalent hardness. A big mob of Sluggas on foot, a Deffrolla Battlewagon, and a small mob of Tankbustas isn't good target saturation. The Battlewagon can be taken out with 1 or 2 high-strength shots (like a Lascannon) that wouldn't do anything to the other targets. the Tankbustas can be dealt with by a combat squad of marines with a heavy bolter as only a few wounds will cause them to run away; leaving the rest of the army to pour bolter fire, Vindicator shells and everything else into the sluggas to cut them down to a size where they will lose in assault. Either make all the targets big and soft (so your enemy runs out of shots) or nasty and dead 'ard (so your enemy runs out of high-strength weapons).
Tip 2: I Kill One And Another Takes It's Place. Related to target saturation is redundancy. If your plan revolves around a single unit, it will fail. If your only option for dealing with that Death Company is a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun, you can bet he won't get a hit all game. If your Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun is threatening the open areas and scaring your opponent into putting the Death Company where your Trukk full of Meganobz can assault it, your chances are much better.
Tip 3: Out Of Ammo! Orks can field a lot of models. Few armies have the firepower to cripple orks in the shooting phase. Between Kustom Force Fields that protect your vehicles with a 4+ save, and grot screens, Killa Kan screens, and terrain that should provide most of your infantry with the same kind of protection, most gunline armies will barely make a dent before you reach them. For example a single Heavy Bolter will kill 1 1/3 orks in the open, or just 2/3 of an ork in cover, each turn. That Devastator squad will kill between 5 and 11 orks in the 2 turns it gets to shoot at them; on the 3rd turn the other 19 will be in position to charge and the Devastators are most likely gone. So don't let the enemy shooting phase worry you overly; get used to how many orks you can lose and still be effective at the other end, and use that knowledge to drive your boyz at the enemy without worrying about the losses.
Tip 4: .... But Remember, They Don't Like It Up Em. If shooting isn't your big worry, what is? Oddly enough for an army that excels in combat, it's assault - specifically multiple assaults. Let's say the enemy manages to charge your big Shoota Boyz mob with something nasty; say 8 Black Templar Assault Terminators. That unit will kill (on average) around 18 Orks on the turn they charge. That's nasty if it hits one of your units... now the really nasty bit.
If those Terminators manage to get an assault on several of your units (let's say they manage to contact a big Slugga mob as well, or worse yet two other big mobs) they'll probably win combat by say 15 wounds. Your units are still big enough to be Fearless, so you'll take No Retreat wounds... 15 of them for each Fearless squad you have in the combat. That's right, you just lost 40 to 60 orks in a single assault phase. The boyz like a fight they can win, but if the enemy is truly scary - they don't like it up em at all.

I deal with armor the only way orks really can (that I know of in my limited experience) - get to it fast and hit it with power klaws. I have 4 klaws counting the mek and it has been pretty successful at taking out what needs killed.
In a dire emergency you can drop the stormboys on the armor to get their power klaw to work, but I have only had to do that once.
That is my largest army, and it is my most successful at this point. 6-1-1. I am a newb so i am happy with that. I have won against every army except nidzilla, I am 0-1-1 against it. I am trying to figure out what to do to keep the complimentary troops in there and somehow deal with that build, but I am not there yet.

As posted above, the best "tactic" I have seen with orks is saturation - soooo many targets that need shot up.
They simply cannot get them all, so you need to plan to finish the game with whatever is left.

boss Ardnutz: thanks for the top quality advice, with the armies in my area i might have that paticula terminator problem.
just out of curiosity, do people think that having round 150 ork boyz and maybe some nobz is a good build, all the armies i have looked at have 3 units of 30, is there something magical about that number or is it considered to be the minimum amount of troops?

The question 'how many boyz should I have' is a bit like the question 'how long is a piece of string'. No one answer will be right for all cases.
How many boyz depends on what you want to do. It's entirely possible to field an effective ork army without any boyz at all; for example, the Ork Deffwing (Ghazghkull, a MA Warboss, and two big mobs of Meganobz in Battlewagons, taken as Troops). Or you could field the dreaded Nob Biker list, a couple of Warbosses on Bikes with two full-size units of Nob Bikers with Painboyz, Cybork Bodies and all equipped differently. People will tend to cry and refuse to play if you bring that one though, rather than put in the effort to learn how to beat it.
A Speed Freak list might be all (normal) bikes, or a mix of bikes and trukkboy squads. That army isn't going to have a lot of troops.
A raw Ork Horde army might be all full-size units of shoota boyz, plus full-size units of Lootas and whatever else there are points for. For 1080 points you can take 180 shoota boyz (without nobz or special weapons of course). That's a lot of models for the other guy to kill, but it's also very slow to play with and very difficult to manoeuvre around a table with decent terrain.
I tend to field balanced armies with a mix of boyz and toyz. At 1500pts I would probably take something like this:
MA Warboss
KFF Big Mek
4 x Meganobz, Trukk
12 x Ardboyz, Trukk
30 x Boyz
30 x Boyz
12 x Stormboyz
2 x Killa Kanz
2 x Killa Kanz
All mobs that can take them have a PK Nob with Bosspole. The list changes a lot because with Orks you can make almost anything in the list effective; at different times I might drop one of the big boyz mobs in size, take grots, drop the stormboyz, take warbikers, drop half the kanz, take a boomwagon. You get the idea anyway.

Just out of curiosity, how viable is a speed freak list?, i would assume the lack of boyz means that it could be very vunrable but would the extra speed make up for this?

It is indeed viable. My friend runs a speed freek list and not a lot of people can handle it.
