Anyone know what the second place SW army list looked like?

Very shocking. My only guess would be that people expected a lot of Anti-Ork?

well I just brought my GT list.

there were 2 dual lash players and 2 or 3 big bugs players.

Most people brought "uncheesey" lists so to speak.

I did absolutly TERRIBLE at the tournament I think I came in 24th? 1 game I won because of match up 2 games I lost because of mission and 2 games I drew because of dice. I don't mean to sound bitter but, I only lost 1 game on bad tactics. Every other game I should have won.

I have bat reps posted up if you don't believe me. (After the first 2 games it all went south)

I played the space wolves list round 4 and it looked like wolf guard termies with ass cannons in a drop pod. 3 battle leaders with ass cannons joined to them. 3 units of 10 grey hunters assortment of weapons. 5 scouts with anti tank things. Honestly this list isn't that powerful it was the lack of powerful lists (no orks) that got it up there.

The lack of Tau makes the ethereals cry.

A "GT" with only 30 players??? Sure it wasn't a RT?

It's kind of hard to take a tournament like this seriously. It's almost exclusively MEQ. No Orks? No Tau? No Dark Eldar? And it's a bit of a stretch to call a 30 player tournament a "grand" tournament...

40k since 1994. Too many RTTs to count.

Logic, it was the first time it was run. there were 32 40k players... and 63 fantasy players

Its hard to take your opinion seriously with something like this gets spouted. You think its a grand conspiriousy, when in reality people took what they want to play. The space wolves player who took second, for example, has a fairly large ork army painted too. His choice what to take.

Maybe no one played Orks because people are starting to realize that it is too easy to win with them...LOL.

It does reveal the secret we've all been looking for though. In order to win a GT with an armylist that is not Orks, make sure no one else is playing Orks!

Thanks.

Comp was done by 3 judges. We had to turn our army lists in a month in advance. Basically the judges all gave a "gut feeling" on the list presented when compared to the other lists in the field. If the judges disagreeed they had to sort out why. All in all I think it was done as best as comp can be done by judges and my friend who ended up playing against all the "1 point comp lists" (double lash, nidzilla, etc) said he didn't have many fun games. However my friend and I who had middle of the road comp scores played a lot of really enjoyable games.

First round was paired based on comp scores so "harder" lists played each other

Second round was done based on comp and battle points.

Each subsequent round was done on battle points.

I'm wondering what makes a 1 or 5 comp demon list. Anyone know if Pete DeFlo has his posted somewhere?

I'm currently building a demon army to play for fun when I'm not trying to make people quit 40k with Orks. Demons have some beefy options in the right circumstances (crushers + kairos vs. non mechanized), but are otherwise astoundingly mediocre - maybe I am alone in this assessment.

No orks or eldar! Space Marine players must have been happy.

I will point out that with over 60 players for 40k and several ork players only a single ork player wound up in the top 10 at seattle and he was number 6 I think. People are adjusting and orks aren't going to be an autowin anymore.

Sounds like a basic Deamon list. The Karios/Bloodcrusher list is the real non-com friendly

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.
