I've been playing IG in 40k for a minute now and lucked acrossed a lizardman army in trade for one of my pc's. Here we go...

70 saurus
40 skink.
Slann mage priest
16 saurus cav

3 petrodactyl guys
Kroq gor (? spelling/nave even close... big metal dude on big metal lizard)

their fluff kinda reminds me of necrons...
It seems like a pretty solid start for the lizards although I probably shouldn't even look at the codex/army book as there will be a new one in a matter of weeks.

Is fielding this many saurus a good route to go? They are a bit lumbering or so it seems to me (but I dunno isht) but the riders seem to make up for it. any thoughts out there? just looking for general strategy advice for what I have listed, I'll update everything after I get it cataloged.

Saurus are gold in the new army book, especially with spears as the second rank will now get 2 attacks and they have dropped in points.

Riders ATM are the worst special selection but they will be 2+ armour save in the new book, hopefully they dropped in points too.

I believe the Saurus Cav are the same price in the new book (not 100% sure though! keep leafing through it at the store and forgetting all the numbers...).

Congrats on getting the army What kind of deal did you get? (by pc, do you mean computer?)

I would also love to see the advice you get here on the models, since I'm hoping to do a saurus-heavy list.

yeah, i traded a pc (2x core 3.0ghz, 2gb ram, 320gb hd, 8500gt card, a sony monitor & some other features) and he threw in some cash. I was browsing the new dex last night and realized I'd be needing a couple more kroxigor so I picked up 2 more. I also happened acrossed a box of "swamp monsters", 3 1st gen saurus and 3 skinks w/ short bows, which made me happy.
