Hard one.
I think overall,
D6G is my current favourite, as the guys are more my age and so tend to look at life through similar eyes to mine. Having said that I enjoy them all, and would not say others are of lesser quality. With the obvious exception of "Design Philosophy", which is nevertheless a worthy try, but still doesn't quite "get" the whole podcasting idiom.
A couple that are well worth checking out and not on the list are:
1/ From the
UK, Neil Shuck's typically understated and long running podcast
"Meeples and Miniatures".
www.meeplesandminiatures.co.uk. As far as I am aware this is the only reliable, regular
UK-based wargaming podcast and gives another geographical dimension to the collection of podcasts. Apart from the very occasional hiccough due to RL and this being a one-man show, I really think this show meets your "regularity" criterion, and while the "One man" style lacks some of the "pazzaz" of newer shows, I think Neil really puts a lot of effort into generating some very in-depth reviews of games in a typically understated British way, and deserves more recognition than he gets. In addition, being located in the
UK he has access to many games and figure designers that are not accessible from podcasts based in other countries and has scooped some interesting interviews with the likes of Kev White etc.
2/ From the US of A, Big Troy and Zac's
"This Week in Wargaming" http://samuraigunslinger.squarespace.com/twiw/. The link with TGN really gives this show a unique scoopage of the news and is really the best gaming "news" podcast available. While I appreciate the sound recording technology does deliver some squeaks and pops, Troy and Mac do deliver a sound product, and seem to have cracked the lack of regularity that hindered the initial start of the "Round Table" shows.
3/ Again from the US of A, Miggedy Mack's
"Dice Like Thunder".
www.dicelikethunder.com . Now, I appreciate Mack's more anarchic style is not everyone's cup of tea, and some of their earlier shows were rather random as they found their feet. But things have settled into a really cool groove now, and particularly with their "Fluid
40k" initiativea which successfully addresses many of the rules-related concerns
40k players have been facing for years now. I really do think the show deserves wider recognition.
4/ And another from the "left hand side of the pond" -
"Fell Calls":
http://podthralls.libsyn.com/ . The grand-daddy of Iron Kingdoms podcasts. Its been going since Noah was a lad and always delivers in depth Hormachine coverage. Also worthy of note is their red-headed bastard offspring
"THACO":
http://www.thacopodcast.com/?p=21 which covers wider geek culture of interest to gamers. All good stuff.
2008
ws definitely "The Year Of The Podcast"!!
