On a scale of 1 to 20, 20 being perfect comp, what would you rank the following list:

Blood Thirster w. Unholy Might
Great Unclean one with breathe of chaos
12 Plague Bearers
16 Plague beaers w. icon
8 blood crushers w. icon, instrument, 1 w. rending
3 soul grinders w. phlem

Got a mistake in there, the last unit is not blood crushers but soul grinders.

And I'd give you a -10, but since I can't, a 1. Who beats up on imperial guard like that?

(I'm the guy you played last round)

The comp for the whole thing was wacky, I got a low comp (7) for IG, whereas there were lash lists getting 6-7 and dante-corbulo blood angels getting a 12.

I wouldn't try to make too much sense of it...but all in all, daemons is a low comp army, so I'd expect it to get between 1-5, maybe not a 1, but still fairly low.

I owuldn't expect he best comp scores when you're including 3 Grinders, a large unit of Crushers, a Bloodthrister, and a slew of the ideal troop for holding objectives.

Its a powerful army, thus one I'd prefer to play against (and I wouldn't dock your comp that badly because of that, probably by about the same amount you dock my comp for playing dual Lash haha), but the vast majority of people will feel differently.

It was at a tourney where the judges comped all the armies, not the players, to remove the chipmunking effect. In return we may have gotten a bit of an randomly overzealous judge effect .

It was fun (but nasty) to play against, just so resilient.

Edit: Gah, I goofed, was trying to edit my earlier post to make it clearer I was just teasing when I said -10 comp, and ended up quoting the whole thing

The Judges compared all of the lists to all of the lists

3 different judges did this. They gave a "gut" feeling and then compared and talked it over to decide

Your list is good... but It probably deserved more then a 1... I would have judged it around a 5-6 when compared to the lists there

As a whole though, I feel most people left with oddly low comp scores, except for a few outliers, so if your list was low, the lists it competed against typically got low scores as well.

Except for the couple outliers which reaped the benefits, its good to be lucky!

Honestly with the lack of "hard" lists at that tournament I would have given you a 3.

In a regular GT like enviornament I would give you a 5-6.

I'd give you a 20. You made a list that was legal in your codex.

But that's just how I think the game should be played.

I'm personally against comp in general for 40k tournies. I like the idea of judge comp for first two turn match ups, then swiss kicks in.

That said I was just shocked at getting a 1, especially when there were dual lash lists with 6 oblits running around with a comp of 6.

On a scale of 1 - 20, I would have probably given around 6. After playing the list for a couple games, I've found it can compete with most of the top lists, but the first turn deployment roll ultimately ruins the codex. If you get the wrong half and two bad scatters your game is close to over before it even started.

Anyway, I thought I would ask simply for a sanity check.

First, I think comp scoring should be binary.

You get X points for a "fair" list and 0 points for a powergaming douche list. X should be a low number. At Adepticon in the team tournament it's 6 points per team per round (battle points are something like 60 points per team per round.)

I think I'd give this list the points but only because it sticks to the Khorne/Nurgle thing. The 3 soulgrinders is a little powergamy.

But on a scale of 1-20....perhaps a 9.

Heck, I got a 7 with imperial guard, the same as dual lash. If I'd of known comp would be so wacky I'd of just sucked it up and brought my dual eldar jetbike seer council army and been done with it.
