Scenario: A squad falling back passes its regrouping test, ending with the whole squad within 2" of a Transport hatch.
Can you choose to embark that turn?

If you mean regrouping (consolidate is something you do after winning an assault) I see no reason why a unit should not be able to embark in a transport after it's 3" regroup move.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"... |

A falling back unit, that passes it's morale check, stops falling back and regroups; it is then able to make a 3" move. This move is not affected by difficult terrain. The move is not called a consolidation move, it happens in the movement phase and I'd have to say that if the entire unit is w/in 2" of a transports hatch, it should be able to embark and the vehicle can then move.
Ya beat me to it Webbe.

Thanks guys, that's how we played it (to my disadvantage in this instance). I couldn't find anything to the contrary either. Also, yes I did mean regrouping, and I edited it in the Original Post.
