Sorry Tony, I'm 49. Unless you plan on getting caught in a tempoaral Warp strom, there's no way you can catch up.

Do you have any idea how much miniatures stuff you can get for the down payment on that car??
I'm 30 here.
I'm very curious about how this all is going to turn out. I always assumed that I'd stop a lot of this when I eventually get married and have children, but I've noticed many people on this board, older than me, in that very situation, and if anything some of them are more "serious" about the hobby than I am. Up until I started again after a long hiatus, I'd say that most of the people I played, outside of a peer group of gamers my age I played with a lot, were older than I was, and I was in my early-mid 20s then. Certainly when I started when I was 16 almost everyone at the store was older than I was, some of them at least twice my age. It only follows that it is possible that at least a few are still playing. Still on the subject of games, I've read various figures that claim your average MMO player is in their 30s.
I would go so far as to speculate that the post-boomer generations are going to be a "gamier" generation than those previous. In the grand scheme of things, miniatures is still a youngster's hobby ( At least warhammer, if you look at historicals by themselves, I would argue that one with you). These days, 40 years old is not old at all, in fact, I would still consider 40 year old people in good physical condition to be young people, relatively. I, for one, see no reason to discontinue doing something that gives me so much enjoyment at any time in the near future. I have projects involving miniatures that are going on right now that could easily be extended two or three years from now. I see no more reason to discontinue that than, say, downhill skiing, which could certainly be construed as a " young man's game" at some level.
Of course, perhaps this is all a matter of perspective. If you look at the concept of playing games in general, I believe that all age groups probably play games. If you go in a casino, look around you and count how many people look to be of retirement age or older. I bet you'll see a significant chunk of the population there, particularly if you go on a weekday, that is older. I would also, though I have nothing to back this up other than intuition, bet that casual or video arcade style video games have quite a few people playing them who are no longer in the "core demographic" for video games. Witness the success of the Nintendo Wii. I can tell you my father, who is 62 and in semi retirement, is currently obsessed with a PC brick-out type game right now. So perhaps, it is merely that miniatures is a generational thing, not an age thing

I'm married with a child.
I gave up wargaming for several years after marrying because the tempo of life changes. If your wargaming buddies aren't married, you're less likely to see them socially. Things change even more once children come along, because then your social circle tends to be married couples with young children.
However, as the children get older, life doesn't centre around them so much and wargaming can come back into the picture. That's how it worked for me anyway.

Wow. When I was 17 I didn't even know that the wide world of gaming existed. I spent all my time getting into trouble. Now I have occasional flashbacks of those times and wonder why I'm still alive and not in prison. Stick to the toy soldiers, it's waaay better for your mental health.

I'm 40 and married. No kids (we can't have them), but no regrets.
Can't remember being 17 and playing 40k (oh yeah, it was battletech back then because 40k DIDN'T YET EXIST).
No need for me to sell my stuff to buy a sportscar - I can't drive anyway, and I don't need the "compensation".

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

40 years old with no plans to grow up! Got plans to play games well in to the future, also bought my 2nd Gears of War action figure the other week (Augustus Cole)! Now have Markus and the Cole train on my desk at work, with plans to get the rest of the gang
|
Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Ask her why is she keeping old clothes from years back, that will only fit her if she gets a few inches shorter (most girls do it), then she will live you alone.
