Just a question...

I have a 4th Edition Rulebook and I'm waiting for my new Ork Codex to be delivered and will buy the 5th edition in a few weeks. Should I bother re-reading the 4th edition rules in anticipation for the 5th? Or will it just confuse me when I do read the 5th?

Some Backround: I haven't played in 12 years. I got the 4th edition book off Ebay for cheap a few years back and read it but never played or cranked up my Army. Now I'm looking to start playing in the next couple of months and am dutifully preparing my army for a WAAAGH! I'm rusty but I know the basics of the game. I don't really know how different the 4th and 5th edition are but I can't imagine them being too different. Just interested in some thoughts.

Skip the 4e rules. They will just leave you with a confused collection of memories.

(As for 5e, grab a copy of the Assault on Black Reach minirulebook - you can find it on eBay, or cheaper via bartertown.com. People grabbed many copies of the boxed set, as it was a great deal on models, and you can get the templates & rules off such individuals cheap.)

Do not read 4e rules. If you've played before, you understand the basics and don't need the overview. The specifics will just confuse you and make learning 5th ed harder as you try to dump all the nonsense you just reviewed from 4th ed.

Well that's pretty definative so far. Thank you for the feedback. I'm just so anxious.

Don't be anxious. 5th is so much better then 4th (in my opinion) that it isn't funny.

I also recommend getting the box set AoBR Save the SM spures in the box and trade them with someone for more boyz

Then you can have the mini rule book and get up to speed in no time!

I really appreciate all the feedback so far. I didn't believe it would be so unanimous but that's good. I'll forget the 4th ed and maybe even look at the AoBR set. More Boyz is always a good thing! (and I have a secret plan for the plastic Dreadnought!) Thanks all.

Any more perspectives are always welcome.
