As the topic states, im wondering what people use their ghouls for in a VC army. As you can tell I really suck, just trying to see what other people have used them for.

Been out of 40k for many years. Slowly painting up old models and getting back into it.

Getting 'killy' combat res instead of skellies' 'static' combat res, I.E. skellies are there to survive, ghouls to kill stuff.

As above you use skeletons to hold up units and win through static combat res while ghouls kill things. I will usually put a Vampire with ghoul kin in there and have them march up and flank a unit. I use both often with skeles being 20+ and ghouls staying aroun 14 or so with frontage of 7. Play around with different combos and do what you like best.

Just keep in mind that 1 point of resolution in kills is always superior to 1 point of static. Of course, anyone who has a chance of going through an undead unit has strength of 5 and higher so those 4+ saves won't be worth anything and Ghouls win on the static department too. You do know that a Ghoul block will destroy nearly every big nastie in the game in a protracted combat? Just keep casting danse on them for asf and those juicy poison rerolls. The bottom line is that because of the way invocation and the summoning bloodlines work you should never mix Ghouls and Skeletons in the same army, and because Ghouls rule you should never use Skeletons. For my thoughts on Zombies see the thread on the tactics forum.
