So... good question here because common sense says no maybe, but RAW says yes...

Ok ork trukk within 6" of a Kustom Force Field, Hit by a shot and Penetrated and wrecked, rolled on Kaboom table and it explodes within 6" of the Kustom Force field. Do the Orks in the trukk get a 5+ cover save when it explodes?

Think before responding cause it'll make ya go huh! so what is everyone's opinion?

since nothing says they don't get the cover save they are allowed to take it. I don't see anything at all confusing about this?

Sure they get a cover save. Doesn't make sense? Firing snotlings through the warp to blow up Land Raiders doesn't make sense either...

& On the cover saves section on P21.. you use a cover save against shooting. Brillaint. Orks Orks Orks Orks!!

Wouldn't that in effect give the Trukk two coversaves? I mean, if the Trukk Kabooms within 6" of a KFF, then the Trukk was within 6" to begin with and would already have used the KFF to prevent the hit that Kaboomed (I love using Kaboom as a verb ) it in the first place.

I think what he means is that the boyz inside would get cover saves from the trukk exploding.

I think by RAW that yes, they would.

They are wounded because their transports blows up right beneath their feet!

RAW my friend.

The hits are treated just like hits from shooting & you can use cover saves against shooting attacks.

It does mention flying bits of debris in the cover save section

Not the transported unit. he's talking about a different unit.

Boyz unit A is near some trees.
Trukk X is by the ruins.
Lascannon FREEM's the trukk, which "Kaboom's" and moves towards Boyz unit A. It's within 6" of them when it explodes, so they take hits/wounds as necessary.
Since Boyz Unit A has a big Mek with KFF, he wants to know if they get a cover save...
The answer is yes. They get their 5+ save.

No. it doesn't get a cover save to keep itself from exploding. It would only get the cover save against the weapon that CAUSED it to explode... and only if the KFF was within 6" when the Hit and subsequent glance/pen caused the "Kaboom."

Actually yes I was referring to the unit in the truck that blows up. And when it blows up the trukk is in 6" of the KFF. SO the unit should benefit from the KFF, RAW says Yes, but sounds kinda shady to me.

Doesn't sound shady to me at all.

I think most of us (myself included) are sometimes guilty of having difficulties in shaking the ol "Only shoots originating from outside the 6" bubble" things. Also trying to apply some misguided rationale about how the KFF actually works. It works because we are told that it works.

Reality in 40k is dictated by the rules and the disembarking/Kablooming unit gets a save.
