Leaving aside the debatable worth of reading WD on a monthly basis (I like flicking through it, ok), I got a 12 month subscription from over the GW website at the end of December. It said it takes 4-8 weeks for the order to be "processed" and as I have yet to receive no. 349 as other posters have, it looks like the subscription will start at no. 350 in another month's time.

Why so long? Have other people experienced this?

Yeah, I know it's taking ages. Some other people I know have said this too.

Even more reason to ignore WD completely.

I think my subscription back in the day took a long time to get started as well, though I don't know why it takes so long to process.

I actually liked the January issue of WD, had some nice conversions and tables in there. I would possibly get a subscription again, but the thing that always annoyed me was that I would consistently receive the magazine at least one week later than my FLGS would. Because of that I just felt it was better to cherry-pick the issues that I liked from my FLGS.

What annoys me is when I renewed I didn't get the special edition muniature, then again they gave me four copies of one of them free of charge

I stand corrected. Lizardmen WD turned up yesterday, so it only took four weeks. Must have been lucky with my timing...

Last time I subscribed (2002-03) It took a month or so to begin so I had to pick up my first 'subscription' issue from my local GW. When it ended there was no leaflet or advert to continue my subscription; so I didn't.

Quite tragic really.

IIRC I got a 'free' mail order voucher with my subscription which I bought a bunch of Stormtrooper special weapons with. They managed to bungle that one too. :(
