A little something I knocked up on the weekend, to find out how tricky clay is to work with...

He's about 2" from his chin to the top of his head.

It's a little rough, but as a first attempt in both medium and scale, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm hoping to have a further tinker when I have time...

Looks good, you might what to take some Slip (watered down clay) and do a once over to smooth out some of the tooling marks on him.

what do you have planned for it? A large Ork Idol?

Nope, he's just about exactly the size I was after. He's ultimately intended for a little non-miniatures-related project that I have in mind.

Yeah, it's a little rough in places, as it was really only intended as a 'sketch' to get the general look sorted out. So I didn't spend a lot of time on neatening it up.

Not quite. I'm hoping to do up a few of these as "1:1" scale statues.

You aren't going to make a life size army of goblins are you? That would be a sweet thing to have in the back yard- talk about the ultimate conversation piece.

'Life-size' in this case being about 10-12" tall... but yeah, that's more or less the plan
