I think I've narrowed this down to pics in people's signatures.

See, for example, Stonefox's signature in this thread. A 468 pixel wide image is not a problem, but it's stretched in his signature to where I'm scrolling horizontally to read all posts on the page when viewing at 1024x768 (laptop native resolution). I don't want to turn signatures off.

His sig is made up of two images side by side that should switch to display one under the other in smaller resolutions. What web browser are you using?

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I get that in IE7 (they stay side-by-side in whatever resolution), but not Firefox or Konqueror. Just re-checked it.

I'm using Opera; the problem occured both in Opera under Ubuntu, and when viewed in a less-than-full-size window on my XP box, at 120% zoom. (I'd experiment more, but you unbroke it.)
