Best part so far:
Q. Do attacks from Lifetaker count as magical attacks?

A. No, they do not.

Figure that one out folks. My magical crossbow isn't THAT magical.

Correct. Like I said, it doesn't make much sense. Oh there's another great one:
Q. If a Dark Elf Sorceress has leftover dice from
the Power of Darkness spell at the end of the
magic phase, can she use them to attempt to
cast a spell where she cannot actually succeed,
thus avoiding the damage from the leftover
dice when the phase ends? For example, if she
has one die left and can only cast Black Horror
that has a casting cost of 12+, can she say she
is attempting to cast it with only the one die,
knowing the attempt will fail?
A. No she cannot. She better make sure she
has an easy spell left to cast or suffer the
consequences.

This is plain and simple Errata to the rulebook at this point. There's nothing in the rules preventing someone from doing this outside of the FAQ simply saying "NAH UH!" and wagging its finger at you.

this is kind of a BS answer. whose to say whats a fair chance? if i have a casting cost 12+ spell and 2 dice does it become justified to try then?

yes it does as their is a chance you can actually succeed whereas casting it with one dice you cannot

Am I right in thinking that double six is an auto pass? Are there any spells with a casting cost of 13+?

double 6 causes irresistible force meaning the spell auto casts, and yeh their are a couple of spells like infernal gateway which is cast on a 15+

So this rule only applies if you have one dice left yes?

No, i believe the rule states that if a DE Sorceress has any power dice left at the end of the magic phase they take wounds, or something to that degree so it applies if you have any dice left and nothing left to cast it on, whether that be spells or spells that you do not have enough dice left to cast upon

But if you have two dice you always have enough dice to cast any spell so long as you can still cast (magic phase ends miscast roll etc.) and therfore should only ever end up with one dice at the end of the phase.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you still need to beat the casting value for Irresitable Force to work?

Manfred is correct. You need a successful roll with 2 6's in it to have a cast with IF. Though the Dark Elves don't have any spells that require more than a 12 to cast. The only exception being if Drain Magic is in play.

I thought they were spot on about the 3 hand weapons thing (though, GW has a pretty arbitrary sense of what's "over the top" and what's "grim dark!!!"), and the Morathi thing cracks me up.

The sorceress thing got me thinking. Basic, level 1 mage only has one spell, and can only spend 2 dice on it. If they ever cast Dark Power and get 3 or 4 dice, they'd take damage, right?

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

No, because DE Sorceresses don't have a limit on how many dice they can use to cast.
