HOLY CRAP!! We got another goat....

Okay, so it's not the Beaver I was hoping for, but looks pretty impressive.. I love the Gnarlhorn Satyr to begin with, just didn't think it had enough rules to go along with it... Counter Slam, Great Horns, and Bounding was all my heavy got for Evolutions.. So maybe this new Shadowhorn will give something else to the mix..

I dont think it will have a chain attack.. None of the alpha warbeast did, and heavys for Trollbloods, Circle, and Skorne all had a chain-attack...

It'll probably be like the Pureblood, have additional head attack from it's horns, and two claw attacks..

I just hope it has better rules then the Gnarlhorn.. and I'm looking forward to the animus....

As far as the Chain Attack, seriously, if it's supposed to be a boxer style thing, it really should have a cool ass chain attack.

Nothing is wrong with the Gnarlhorn, he's one of my favorite models.. but really.. they only thing he has going for him is Bounding.. SPD+5 on the charge is great..

I dont hardly ever use counter-slam,... most players dont end within 6" anyway.. I know I dont move closer then need be, and ALWAYS have charge distance when I do.

And I dont recall anything about it being a "boxer" style goat.. it just says that the Shadowhorn is more aggressive then the Gnarl... You'll probably see some effect like Heart Tokens for the Ravengers.. When the Shadowhorn destroys a living model, it gets another attack and etc.... Something along those lines..

The Gnarlhorn rocks. Its only drawback is it's low DEF.

When it's charging, it's has the same movement potential and ARM as a Warpwolf that warped for both. Plus, its hitting at P+S 15. And when its slamming/headbutting, its 2 MAT more accurate that the Warpwolf.

All than, and its animus is better (though only OK, not great).

Counter Slam is just a bonus. If it ever happens to trigger, great. If not, no big loss.

Having said all that, I'll take a Warpwolf first 99% of the time. Its just too survivable to pass up and it works really well with the Pureblood. I've been trying to use one more lately, but he often doesn't make it into lists less than 750.

The Gnarlhorn is great, and I use one everytime I field Kaya. Her Rager spell plus Gnarlhorn Head-Butt=6 auto-hits, or 4 auto-hits with 3 being boosted damange..

The fact is he's just not a auto-include for Circle.. I'd take the Warpwolf anyday.. That's why I own 3, if the urge ever rises, I have the models to play with..

That's why I cant wait to see the Shadowhorn's rules.. I'm really hoping for a more well-rounded heavy this time around...

It does not really do it for me. *shrug*.

First, the model looks terrible to me... I LOVE Mulg, Typhon looks B.A. As does Karn (though I'd swap Karn's head for some kind of helmet.)

Then I see the Shadowhorn... W... T... H???

It just looks fugly to me.

The standing pose, the funky head... Why are his arms up so high? Why is he standing completely stretched upwards? Is he peering over a line of soldiers? Or maybe he's trying to puff out his chest at his full height while beating on it like some kind of gorilla... Or that group of gangsters I see on the street. Maybe it should've been the "Bloods Gang Satyr"... then we could paint his wrestling belt red. Hell, I'd be surprised if he could even bend over and not have that thing get in the way. It makes his abdomin look very misproportioned with his neck/shoulders/head.

Second,
Trollbloods get a NAMED CHARACTER beast: "Mulg, the Ancient"
Legion gets a NAMED CHARACTER beast: "Typhon"
Skorne gets a NAMED CHARACTER beast: "Molik Karn"
Circle gets........... a racial character(?) beast? Is there only one Shadowhorn? Why is it a character then? Why doesn't it have a name like the others? I just don't get it.

Also, yes, I believe Typhon to be an individual name more than a breed/racial name. From the discription, Typhon sounds like it's a unique abomination rather than a race of abominations.

Correction: all four of them are kind of ugly.

The Typhon is okay but it looks like it is picking apples off a tree rather than assaulting and mauling something, Everblight-style.

From Privateer's home page:

It's definitely NOT a character warbeast. It's a breed of crazy judo/bareknuckle boxing goat men.

I don't like the model either, but the more I look at it, the more I think the left arm is guarding and the right arm is about to coldcock something. It's becoming a cliche to say it, but it could use a 360 rotation. Even if I'm wrong and it looks this dumb from all angles, I still might get it. This guy has a crazy enough concept that its rules are sure to be entertaining.

If we're really getting into the whole "who's a character beast and who's not" thing.. Then the Typhon is far from it also..

The Shadowhorn is a new bunch of little billy goats that join the fight...

Mulg is a Character.. Why? Because he's a trollblood dire troll that's been around for some time..

Malik Karn is a Character.. Why? Because he's a cyclops leader that's been around for some time..

The Typhon is not a Character.. Why? Because he's a specail creation from one of the warlocks, he was made specifically to deal with a threat.. and no where in the text does he even remotly sound like they had this big beast hidden in a cave somewhere..

And like I all told you before... WE'RE GETTING THE BEAVER!!!!.. Watch Ben 10.. Our character warbeast will be like Up-Chuck... Dont hate,

@Exile; I'm pretty sure he is a character, but does it really matter if he's not. I'm sure everyone will get a new heavy warbeast, a light, and then the Character.. just like in evolutions; everyone got a light(except trolls because they had 2 heavys in Primal) a heavy, and a alpha..

It's probably just not ready yet. PP's previews are usually kind of haphazard, even with warlocks and warcasters. Remember, it took forever for them to show Epic Kaya's preview, and they never previewed Cygnar's Squire. Back when Apotheosis was coming out, a couple epic warcasters didn't get previewed at all.

Anyway, my point is that when PP previews something is irrelevant. They've shown no patterns for when they post something new. The only hard bit of evidence is the blurb, and this one's clearly indicates that there are multiple Shadowhorn Satyrs.

Here's a thought. What if the Shadowhorn is an Alpha warbeast? That's still possible.

Regarding Typhon, it is entirely possible that it isn't a character warbeast either. Its blurb is rather ambiguous. Maybe it's an Alpha? Maybe two factions get characters and two factions get Alphas? I hope not.

Maybe we should all just bask in glory and be happy for me since I got another GOAT!!!

It's possible, the idea of another Alpha comes to mind, but I'm not sure I want the Shadowhorn as a new Alpha.. The Alpha's from Evolutions are okay, and all have pretty nice models, but the only one's I'd ever field would be the Angelius and Pureblood..

The rest get kinda boring with the "buffs" to their lower brothers..

Earlier today three warbeasts fought it out to take the premier space for the new beast of the Circle. Sadly, the Beaver was beaten bloody by the Giant [ROOSTER], an offshoot of the rooster family grown to mythic proportions by The Devourer Wurm. The [DONKEY] was also torn apart during the conflict. Look for the Giant [ROOSTER], Rooster Cogburn, to hit shelves this may as Circle's new Character Warbeast.

So, you see? Beavers just aren't tough enough to make it in this game.
