I could use a little clarification on this. When you're on foot if you move with a rapid fire weapon you can only shoot up to 12 inches. However a friend of mine that I was playing against moved his transport up 12 inches disembarked a troop of fire warriors and then proceeded to shoot me well over 12 inches away. Is that legal?

Also if you have heavy weapon characters like say lootas in a truck and you move can they still fire?

Rapid fire weapons on a transport shoot as if they didn't move. Same with heavies.

Infantry in transports that move are treated as if they moved, themselves.

No disrespect intended... Read your rulebook more thoroughly. Both are covered in it.

Ok so I went to double check in the rule book because what I got from it was that you couldn't. Here's what I have:

On page 17 of the rule book from the AoBR it says in the upper right corner section of Moving&Shooting: "The most important thing to remember is that the whole unit counts as moving if any of it's models moved in the Movement phase".

So that would lead me to believe that if a transport with Fire warriors for ex. that moved 12 inches, disembarked, could only fire up to 12 inches not their full 30 inch range.

Now on page 58 for vehicles shooting it says: "The number of weapons a vehicle can fire in the shooting phase depends on how fast it has moved in that turn's movement phase as described below"

"the normal penalities of movement on shooting rapid fire and heavy weapons do not apply-when firing from a vehicle.

I would take this to mean the weapons on the actual vehicle itself.

On page 66 under fire points: "Models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at cruising speed".

Again I would take this to mean that a unit of rapid fire weapons that moved in a vehicle could only fire up to 2 shots at the 12 inch range.

On page 67 under Disembarking: "Once the models have disembarked, the vehicle may not move any further. After disembarking, these models shoot (couting as moving) but may not assault".

Again this would refer to rapid fire weapons and heavies as well from what I can gather from it.

I didn't think you could. The reason why I was asking was because my friend said you could fire the full 30 inches.

Your friend was wrong. You quoted the pertinent text from page 67, "counting as moving".
