Subject: WoC Mounts, which is the best for your lord?

Place your opinions and vote for the best WoC mount, my opinions, and the stat-lines of the mounts are here, don’t be afraid to completely bash my theories!
Juggernaut of Khorne-50pts-
M7 WS5 BS0 S5 T4 W1 I2 A2 Ld7
Magic resistance (1), causes fear, and add +3 to the riders armour save
Very nice model and with the possibility of a 0+ or even a -1+ armour save, with fear, a very good mount indeed.
Steed of Slaanesh-25pst-
M10 WS3 BS3 S3 T3 W1 I5 A1 Ld7
Fear, Poisoned attacks, Fast Cavalry
A very slaanesh-esque model, disturbingly fast (M10!!!) and poisoned attacksa re nice, though toughness of 3 leaves if vulnerable
Daemonic Mount-50pts-
M8 WS4 BS0 S5 T5 W1 I3 A2 Ld8
Fear
Another fairly nice model, all around a good mount S&T 5 is really nice though it doesn’t provide the same protection of a juggernaut it is still a very well rounded and powerful mount.
Disc of Tzeentch-20pts-
M1 WS3 BS0 S3 T3 W1 I4 A1 Ld7
Flying, Flaming Attacks, Fear
A flying mount AWESOME, at first this seems like an awesome option for only 20 points, and it is; although it doesn’t provide the protection or hitting power of the daemonic or juggernaut. This is a very good option for a sorcerer.
Palanquin of Nurgle-50pts-
M4 WS3 BS0 S3 T3 W1 I3 A6 Ld7
Fear, Poisoned attacks
6 attacks! That’s more than any of the previous mounts put together! While they are only of the S3 variety, poisoned and sheer quantity makes up for this. This mount is not for those who love speed but those who love the great papa nurgle!
Manticore-200pts-
M6 WS5 BS0 S5 T5 W4 I5 A4 Ld5
Flying, Killing Blow, Large Target, Terror, uncontrollable
In my mind I see this as a poor man’s dragon, although with killing blow and the ability to cause ones ride to be frenzy it seems pretty good on its own. I run one of these and find it works out really great, although the lack of an armour save really hurts.
Chaos Dragon-360pts-
M6 WS6 BS0 S6 T6 W6 I3 A6 Ld8
Flying, Large Target, Terror, Scaly Skin (3+), 2 Breath Weapons
What’s not to love about a Chaos dragon! Its mean, powerful, and a very good armour save, it’s a little costly but what dragon isn’t. A chaos lord on a dragon is a very hard thing to stop with anything.
Chaos Chariot-100pts-
M7 WS(of lord) S5 T5 W4 I(of lord) A(of lord&1 rider) Ld(of lord)
Scythed Wheels,3+ armour save
Chariots, a great mount for any hero or lord, give him a flail and watch enemies fall to S7 attacks with 2 S5 attacks form the other rider, and the +1 S4 attacks before combat even starts, fairly tough with an armour save of 3+ and T5

First off, the mount's toughness for the 1 wound models doesn't matter.
Second, it depends on the character and how you are going to use them.
Honestly, I perfer the unlisted one...Barded Chaos Steed.

Chaos dragon with lord for unit crushing power.
The big lords have returned since the HE, then greater daemons and DEs and now chaos. It seems ubercharacters are once more in vouge at the studio...

I'd say the barded chaos steed is by far the best choice. From the listed ones I voted for the disc of tzeentch.

Juggernaut or Chariot for me. They Jugger's armour bonus and fear makes the lord/hero a good candidate for soloing. The Chariot is just plain brutal. Agreed on the flail/chariot combo.

Daemonic Mount- makes the guy cause fear so you don't need the mark of slaanesh as his immunity to fear is extended to any unit he joins.

Daemonic Mount is nice for the fear/terror protection, and the M8, and the 2 S5 attacks. The barded steed is great for the cheapness and +2 save.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

best model = yes
good choice for a mount = NO
unless i am wrong it can only be taken by a khorn char which means frenzy
so if its in an infantry unit you will be baited out of the unit and killed
in a knight unit your slowing down the knights and you can still be baited out (a little harder but doable unless you stick the guy in the middle of the unit)
unfortunately frenzied guys on mounts are a really bad thing.

I know at the Baltimore GT they ruled that models on mounts can't be baited out of units. (friend of mine tried to use the slaanesh daemon power that makes a unit charge on a unit of skellies with the vampire lord in it on a mount).

Uh, Frenzied units are best when mounted. There's a good reason why Khorne marauder horsemen are taken. The +1 attack and immunity to psychology goes a long way.

It isn't even slowing the unit down... Plus, warhounds can be easily used for cheap, fast screens. Personally I like the daemonic mount. 2 Str 5 attacks and fear is nice, plus it's a cool model.

For fighty lords Juggernaut seems a very good choice if you can control the frenzy somehow. Then there's the far more costly dragon but it has become a bit more tricksy to use as you don't have the broken golden eye and daemonic flyers anymore. The big guy can deliver 14 ws6+ s6 attacks on the charge so it can break ranked units from the front but the dragon-combo lacks anti-whiffage rules/items that the dark elfs and daemons have.
For mage lords disc of tzeentch with golden eye and doo-dads seems to be a good way to keep (tzeentch) guy mobile and relatively safe.

That is a completely different issue. The rules for Frenzy clearly state that if they are in a non Frenzied unit they can and will charge out of it if the unit they are with cannot complete the charge. As for Sirens Song this can only be used on units as a whole not on single models within a unit.
