I had made up a list in a previous thread, but I wanted to hear peoples thoughts on the issue itself. Mainly that the greynights actually outnumber the marines.

Something like this for example.

Pedro Kantor 175

Sternguard 320

Sternguard 320

Sternguard 320

Greyknights 275

Greynights 275

Scouts 170
Scouts 170

Simple enough list

I really like the idea of mixing spacemarines with greyknights ; it give you the option of taking Scout Squads as troops basically. Your limited in what you can ally with but Your going to be short on points anyway.

Anyway I am just experimenting. What are some of the more advantages and disadvantages. For instance I think this looks great as a troop selection
HQ
Chaplain 100

Greknight Term Squad

Scout

Greynight

Greynight

Landraider Crusader

Sure they lose fearless but being able to reroll all misses on a charge is kind of rad.

You just don't see many allied forces of marines w/ the new codex ; The new codex as a lot of things that Greyknights can benifit from

So let's look at some combos

( The cheapest way to do it is a chargacter ; buy 2 small scout squads ; then you have the option of messing around with greyknights as a supllement."

Hands down though versus a tactical I think greyknights come out a ahead.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

The first army seems to be footslogging and it lacks long-range anti-tank. Anti-tank is also an issue for the 2nd list.

Grey Knights and SM Tactical squads have entirely different battlefield roles, so I don't see how you can say that GK's are that much superior.

A standard Tac squad costs sub 200pts for 10 guys including a sergeant, special and heavy weapon. You can buy transports for them, combat squad them, etc. They are designed to be all-rounders that you can adapt to any situation.

GK's are highly specialised troops that rely on their mobility and assault weaponry. They need to be constantly on the move, pouring Stormbolter fire at enemy infantry until they are caught - at which point you hope that the enemy is thinned out enough that your counter-attack finishes them off.
They are inherently poor at holding objectives (as this limits their mobility) and have no access to anti-tank weaponry.

Both have their own uses and both can be used effectively in the same list - you just need to understand the limitations of each.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

How does either list intend to kill mobile mech armies or heavy mech armies? If you're going to play competitively, you will definitely run into those types of lists. I don't see you have anything beyond the odd missile launcher or lascannon on the tac squads. This is really going to hurt you when you're relying on 3-4 heavy weapons to outfire 1000 points of tanks/transports as your opponent drives around plinking your 25 point marines.
