Hey all,

Still working on my Noise Marine army, and I wrote up a quick list to see what I could come up with. I am unlimited in some areas, like what I take in terms of noise marine/berserker ratio, because they are all being converted off of the same model, but I would like to stick to sorcerer/ prince because of modelling, rather than the of course preferred Prince x2.

Here we go:

Prince Wings MoS Lash

Sorcerer Wings MoS Lash

7 Noise marines incl. champ with doom siren
7 Noise marines incl. champ with doom siren
7 Noise marines incl. champ with doom siren
7 Noise marines incl. champ with sonic blaster

10 berserkers including fist champ

5 oblits in some ugly mishmash

1749

I think it packs a lot of punch, and looks like an 1850 list in 1750. What do you all think?

I think it is a pretty typical lash list with a few troops moved around.

It should work well...

Oh...sorry then. Haven't really followed chaos armies other than when I made a plague marine army.

Guess it's beating a dead horse then.

You'll want some Rhinos for you troops units so they can actually get tothings like objectives in a timely manner.

I'd also prefer to see at least 1 more Oblit.

the Noise MArines would benefit from all having Sonic Blasters and maybe a Blastmaster in their units.

Maybe all of those things are included in the list but weren't listed? I didn't work out the points to see if thats the case or not.

As it stands your noise marines are too slow and too vulnerable. They dont have any sonic blasters so the are only as good as a marine at shooting and they're not in rhinos so dont have any speed. You will get shot off the board before you can use those doomsirens.

There are two main ways to run noise marines:

1) You have them equipped with sonic blasters and a blastmaster (no champion). The provide exellent fire support and can hold their own in combat.

2) You have then in a rhino with a champions with a doom siren and maybe some sonic blasters. They zip around the board killing stuff with lots of firepower before following it up with a nast charge.

What you have at the moment is a bunch of very expensive infanty that isnt taking advantage of their greatest strengths. Althouh NM can footslog they shouldnt unless they absolutely have to. They should either be stood still blasting stuff or driving forward assaulting stuff.

I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

OOPS! I made a huge error in typing it out. Every noise marine has a sonic blaster.

Also, I dont understand the blastmaster. It seems to have nothing in common with the rest of the guns. It has one high strength shot, but I have the oblits for that.

The blastmaster is very good is static noise marine squads. It is a S8 small blast marker weapons so will kill MEQs, Horde, MCs and even tanks without too much trouble. Because it is a blast marker there is no need to roll to hit so it makes it very good for a lashed squad. Finally it also causes pinning which can stop units advancing and shooting, an ability not to be discounted.

Including blastmasters in static NM squads does improve their shooting massively and gives you a bit of extra versitility.

Would it perhaps be worth it to drop a unit of Noise MArines to get Rhinos for all your troops units? I know you lose a lot of firepower that way but you gain a lot of mobility, which is very important these days. The Rhinos can also be used to cut down LoS to your important units like your Sorceror and Oblits and give the DP a 4+ cover save. Its direct impact in terms of killing things may be minimal, but you'll be able to influence the game in numerous ways with a bunch of Rhinos. They're almost like mobile LoS blocking terrain pieces sometimes.

So Cal

Just for fluff make the NM squads 6 not 7.

But then again I'm known in my gaming circles for bringing fluffy, soft lists. But I still win more often than I lose.

I run a pure Slaanesh CSM army and *gasp* only bring one Lash.

Perhaps I should post some of my army lists so you guys can laugh and tell me I'm never gonna win with that. :p

Perhaps you should get off your high horse and post something constructive.

To Caffan9:

Giving off your infantry rhinos would make them much better as your army is short range orientated. Doing that would leave you with 50pts to spend so you can pick up another couple of noise marines, giving you 2 squads of 8 and some squad of 7.

You still only have 6 sources of anti-tank (5 oblits and a DP) which may give you problems if you come up against a serious mech army or something with lots of landraiders/monoliths, but other than that you should do well.

Actually depending on the environment you are playing in fluff and balance is constructive. So keep your panties un-knotted would ya.

Back to the subject at hand.
Is there a reason you being Bezerkers instead of just tooling a NM Squad for HtH? The I bonus is really nice. It is always fun to see Marine players realize they get to wait till you are done with all your guys.
I also agree with the folks saying a few Sonic Blasters and Blastmasters might be noce too. If you are able to tweak the army depending on opponent the Pinning from the Blastmasters is damn nice.
