I have never played any wargammings, and am intrested in whfb.

Out of all armies I liked the look and lore of these two. I dont have a certain type of play except i want a fun game for me and my opponent.


Bretonnia-I came to like them for their bowmen and knights( yes I said bowmen ) but people say their not fun to play agains or with.

Wood Elves-I am not sure why I like them but I have a passion for bows

Help me chose one. Which experiance have you had with them.

Both armies are unusual.

Wood Elves: Guerrilla fighters that have to win through maneuver, shooting and
combat. It's very difficult to build up static combat resolution with a Wood Elf army, so
you're constantly having to set events in your own favor. Luckily, their movement
rules allows them to move every which way.

The dislike of Bret runs to the way they are played by some people. There are some nasty builds possible which are not really fun to play with or against.

Go with a mixed force of knights and peasants, they are not too shabby in power and are nice army to play. In that army you have static combat resolution in peasant infantry, some skirmishing archers and then the mobile hitting power of knights on horse and pegasus back. That is a balanced army, which lets you play in every phase of the game.

What you don't like to play against the RAF? Or the classic list of All knights. or maybe two units of grails. it always seemed silly to me to put a 0-1 restriction on a unit, then put in one or two ways to get around that. "Bring the King, and you can have as many Grails in you army as you want." Oh, and that blessing is broken, especially when you bring the Fay. Now they don't have to pray, and the blessing is ALWAYS a 5+ ward. so now every knight model (which is often EVEY MODEL) automatically gets a 2+ armour save (except Peg Knights) and then get a 5+ ward. know that's Broken.

I am actually one of those people that do not like to play brits. Why because it is so very very boring. Sadly for them the charge is all where its at. do poorly on it or don't get the charge and youv lost. Its annoying finding the outcome of the game set on turn 2 or 3.

Granted built right they can be combat monsters. But without that hcarge youl be lucky to win any combats.

i got to say that bretonians are one of the more boaring races, though you might have to watch out with woodelves if the power level at your gaming group is low, when i used them i t got so bad that no one would play me
