[Okay so this is my first BR, so don't kill me if I get something wrong. I also don't know too much about Eldar so don't kill me if I get something wrong there. Cookie to person(s) who guesses the origin of names!]
Lessei Moondancer sighed. It was truly the twilight of the Eldar. Despite the fact that the Eldar of Craftworld Ackvon-Zar had retaken a world that the Eldar had once had before the Fall; it was only a matter of time before warp-spawned nightmares, the oppressive Imperium, or some other source of death destroyed all that he, and all Eldar, held dear. There had been many battles on this planet, too many. Too many of Moondancer’s kin had fallen to the cruelties of the Orks or the putrid renegade Space Marines. Why, of all of the planets, had they wanted this one? Despite his powerful abilities, this irked him. Perhaps he would find out.
“We’ll meet up at the shrine, Farseer Moondancer,” Assured Fierme Direstorm, one of Ackvon Zar’s Warlocks, interrupting Lessei’s thoughts. “My ten men will root out any ambushes or sneak attacks.” The Warlock and his ten Guardians, along with a Scatter Laser, departed the area.
“Goodbye my friend, may we meet again, and during better times. “ Replied the Farseer with a slight smile, but it could not be seen beneath his helmet.
All that was left were Moondancer, and two squads of ten Guardians with accompanying Warlocks. Also there were two of the Craftworld’s Wraithlords,
Lightprow and
Swifteye, and finally the Craftworld’s Avatar of Khaine.
The Eldar were woefully undermanned, and Moondancer did not like it. He was supposed to have more fire support with him, and squads of Aspect Warriors. However these were halfway across the planet, and it was too late to call them in.
“Orks and renegade Marines…” Muttered Moondancer, as his forces prepared to fight and got into defensive positions. Again he gazed at the beautiful crystal structures that had formed on their own. He knew that even these would not survive his enemies who cared not for nature, but only for the destruction of it.

The battle was 1250 points, I’m like 100% sure of that. I only used around 900 points (which is all I own) so I was allowed to have the Endless Swarm ability for my Guardians squads, which in hindsight I should have taken advantage of.

Turn I
Well the original order was Orks then Nurgle then me, but both Nurgle and I seized the initiative, and Nurgle won a dice off so the new order was Nurgle, me, and Orks.
The putrid, disgusting Space Marines who worshipped Nurgle who through the vile powers of Chaos had somehow beaten Moondancer howled, as their army moved forward towards the objective. In their lust for the shrine, they traded firepower for extra movement, so bikes turboboosted, and vehicles moved flat out. Driven insane by his mechanical prison, the Dreadnought flew into a wild frenzy and charged at the first thing he saw: The Eldar!
Using his psychic knowledge that he had accumulated over the millennia, Moondancer guided the shots of Swifteye, however the Wraithlord was out of range.
The Orks, though not as evil as the Marines, were much more of a nuisance. They howled as they charged for the shrine, most likely just to defile it in the name of their barbaric culture. The Looted Wagon fired at the bikes, but none perished as not only did the speed of the bikes confused the stupid green creatures, but Ork weaponry is not the most accurate. Despite their glaring inaccuracy, an Ork dreadnought fired a missile which found its mark on the Avatar of Khaine, which only served to enrage it.
Turn II
The renegades were fast, abnormally so, and even faster when one considers that they worship the foul deity of Nurgle. The three bikes were now at the shrine and fired, killing an Ork. The squad in the Rhino disembarked. The dreadnought of Nurgle restrained its anger yet continued moving towards the Eldar.
Seeing the Ork dreadnought as a potential problem, the Farseer increased the accuracy of Swifteye, and warned the Avatar of potential danger, but this danger was averted with the explosion of the Ork dreadnought that had wounded the Avatar, thanks to Swifteye’s Bright Lance. The other Wraithlord, Lightprow, fired its weapons, destroying the turret of the Predator. One of the Guardian squads fired its Scatter Laser, killing of the bikers on the shrine.
The Orks continued moving towards the shrine. A trukk, full of Orks with flamers, moved near the bikers and engulfed the remaining two in gouts of flame. All that was left were the husks of armor and the destroyed bikes, the bikers’ mission failed.
Turn III
In a horrifying display, a Champion’s body ripped apart, gore and pus spraying every which way, his body convulsing as perhaps the foulest thing that Moondancer had ever lay his eyes upon, barring the machinations of Slaanesh- a Great Unclean One. Pus flowed from its sores like water from a stream. Its guts hung out as flies buzzed around it. Had the Avatar not inspired the Guardians they surely would have retreated from such a sight. If this was no enough, icons called down more disgusting beings, Plague Bearers. The squad that had disembarked from the Rhino moments ago now fired into a quick approaching Ork mobs, slaughtering 3 Orks. The Chaos dreadnought once again restrained itself, and fired a lascannon that hit Lightprow.
Knowing that now was the time to act; the Eldar began moving towards the objective. Not wanting Lightprow to be any further hurt, Moondancer guided its shots against the Dreadnought and warned it of nearby danger. With unerring accuracy, Lightprow fired into the Chaos Dreadnought and caused it to explode. Swifteye, barely in range, managed to destroy the Big Shoota on the Ork Trukk.
Almost unmolested, the Orks were virtually adjacent to the shrine. The Trukk, not caring for the grandiose shrine drove halfway up the stairs before becoming stuck. Everything else continued moving forward. The Flash Gits, their guns on full power (opponent rolled a 1 for
AP, so had AP1!) eliminated two Space Marines. Orks fired into the Space Marines, pounding them. By this time all Nurgle Space Marines were dead.
Turn IV
The wounded Predator managed to kill one Ork, and the Great Unclean One vented his anger at his followers being slaughtered, and wrecked the Ork Trukk, forcing the Burnas to disembark. The Nurgle forces were largely ineffective, killing an Ork here and there, but there were so many as to not make a difference.
Unfortunately the Eldar firepower was also largely ineffective due to the crystal structures blocking their firepower. One Flash Git was wounded, and another Ork was killed.
In their gleeful pyromania, the Burnas annihilated another squad with their flamethrowers. When assaulted by some Orks, two Terminators fell due to malfunctioning armor systems and the relentless Ork attacks. (Aka my friend rolled two 1’s for armor saves…ouch! I don’t honestly have that much written down…I think that I got a drink and some cookies though…yum.

Plus some other friends were over and I was talking with them.) The Ork squad containing the Warboss took control of the shrine.
Turn V
The Great Unclean One had, perhaps, in its rage, had attacked with such a blind fury that it was actually detrimental to its fighting, as was shown when it only managed to wound an Ork Dreadnought. (Yeah, and I thought that MY dice rolling was bad…)
The Predator and the Rhino fired, and killed more Orks. The Great Unclean One was killed in return, further eliminating any hopes of dominance.
The Eldar continued moving forward, as Moondancer predicted the death of the Ork squad on the shrine, and guided the attacks of the Avatar of Khaine. The Guardians and the Wraithlords moved forward. One of the Guardian squads got into charge range and fired. Now in range, the Avatar charged for the Ork squad containing the Ork warboss, and killed three Orks outright. The two remaining wounded, the Warboss and Nob, attacked in vain as no wounds were done to the Avatar. Having lost the combat, they retreated but were cut down. Greatly inspired by this act, the Guardians charged the Flash Gits, but were repelled and all cut down. What would have been a great victory was now marred by the loss of 10 civilians and an able Warlock.
Seeing their valuable looted Wagon in danger, the Flash Gits moved in front of it. The Burnas, victorious, now took the shrine. The Flash Gits fired on Swifteye, but failed to harm the Wraithbone body of the Wraithlord. The Boomgun fired on the Guardian squad behind Swifteye but missed due to technical failings. An Ork Dreadnought charged the Chaos Predator that was on the shrine, and blew it up due to its overzealous attacks. The explosion killed three Burnas.
Turn VI
In its last hurrah, the Chaos Rhino fired its Havoc Launcher, only to have its weapon systems malfunction which made the missile fire onto itself, causing the Rhino to explode and cause one Ork to go with it. The Nurgle army had been completely destroyed, leaving only the Orks and Eldar.
The mood was lifted somewhat with the arrival of Fierme Direstorm and his squad of Guardians, their Scatter Laser cutting down two Orks. Lightbrow managed to kill one Flash Git and wounded another, as the Avatar, still going strong, killed the four remaining Burna Boys.
The remaining Ork shoota boys took the Shrine, as the Boomgun managed to eliminate three Guardians.
Moondancer knew that the time had arrived to fallback. The Orks were significantly weakened, but so were his squads. If only he had had those blasted Aspect Squads! Then the battle would have gone differently, he told himself. But while the Orks gloated over their victory, they were still without a leader. Cut the head off of the snake, and the body dies, Moondancer knew. Pathfinders would make quick work of the rest of the now-weakened Orks.
His casualties were 13 civilians and 1 Warlock…too high. Much too high, Moondancer told himself. But their deaths would be avenged.
---
Result: Ork Victory, Defeat for Nurgle CSM and Ackvon-Zar Eldar
My thoughts: (Yes, because you care so much!

)
Hmm…I should have started moving Turn II, but as I play
IG and am used to just sitting there…laugh while you can, but moving from one of the most immobile armies to one of the most mobile takes a while to get used to, I’m serious! Yes, I had the endless Swarm rule, but it didn’t feel, well, fluffy to just throw Guardians at the enemy, so I’m happy that I kind of restrained myself. I know for a fact that Guardians in combat=dead Guardians. :(
In all though, this was a productive battle. Scatter lasers didn’t perform as well as I’d like, but there was a buttload of terrain. The addition of Striking Scorpions, and a Warwalker squadron with 6 Scatter Lasers will definitely boost my firepower. For only around 900 points, my army was a bit hamstringed, but it performed admirably in my eyes.
My man (or rather, god) of the match:
This would have to be the Avatar. He killed whatever I wanted him to kill. Unfortunately in the future my friends will probably want to kill him as soon as possible!
Sorry this is a lot to read, hahaha. Um, there’s probably a lot of glaring discrepancies, so feel free to ask. I was half paying attention, half socializing with other friends/eating/whatever so a lot of stuff is probably off.
But yeah, it was a pretty fun game. If you read through this wall of text (and terrible fluff/writing/reporting at that) you get a cookie.
