I didn't know you can buy a Scropion's Claw AND a Biting blade for a Striking Scropion Exarch. That makes go from decent to awsome. Can someone please confirm this for me.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

They don't stack (no S8 powerfists). See pg. 42, under "Two different special weapons."

But you can get both. You dont get the additional bonous attack neways because its a powerfist (which require dual-types to get +1 a for 2 CCW)

But you can have a str6 powerfirst to deal with high save people or the str 5-8 biting blade to deal with higher I things or, more importantly vehicles. Specifically walkers as you can actually penetrate front armor on decent I5

I would take the biting blade and forego the claw.

That's just because I think the 15pts could be better spent and skorpions aren't there to kill terminators. You have banshees for that (I hope).

Hi, I'm Mike Leon. You may remember me from such totally metal action adventure novels as KILL KILL KILL and RATED R

Uhm... page 62 in my Codex says you can do A - replace SP with SC, B - replace CS with BB or C - replace both with CSs. It doesn't seem to say you can do any 2 of them.

All the Exarch only Weapons say Replace _____ with ______ or ______. In those cases you can only have one. Some things however do Give him ______ for Xpt. Power weapon on Swooping Hawks is one example. But this is the same reason that a Dire Avenger can not have a shimmer shield and a Dire Sword on the same model, you can't take both upgrades at the same time, because you have already replace what you would be giving up in order to get the better.

If you look at from a Points standpoint it makes scene. When you replace the old weapon you in effect "cash in" the points that that old weapon set would have added the the total and then Bought the new weapons with that cash in and some.

Some say yea and some say nah. Makes me confused. I'll hold off on modeling the Striking Scropion Exarch with both for now.

A striking scorpain exarch can do the followidng;

Replace his shuriken pistol for a scorpain claw (which houses an inbuilt shuriken catapult)

he can also;

Replace his chainsword with a Biting blade

OR

he can replace both the shuriken pistol & the chainsword for chains sabres.

He can also replace one & the other weapon due to the little "," in the rules. If it had the word OR inplace of the comma then no, he couldnt. The only OR is for the chains sabres (as you replace both weapons.. its the cheaper option)

The claw is good against slogging it with MEQ's.. it'll whittle down their numbers quite effectively because if you dont properly kill them in the charge they should win prolonged combats with T4 vs T3.

The biting blade is really soley for having to deal with an assaulting walker. Its fairly cheap, can be bought in addition & means youve got a semi-effective way of countering an AV12 walker if it assaults you - concidering the nature & equipement/role of the scorpains.. thats very possible.

The sabres are a economy option - they are very good for what they do - the exarch would get 5 str 4 attacks on the charge with a re-roll to hit & wound on WS5. Although after reading.. these weapons may only strike @ str 3.. hence why theyve got a re-roll to wound. Inferior choice.
