Most painters represent over exposed skin to sun via
darkern skin tone / tan .

Did you mean actual sunburn like peeling skin?

Well mix red into a well watered down bit of your skin colour then paint where you want it.

But, you do realise that the Tallarn are going to be used to desert conditions and thus would most likely have darker skin less susceptable to burning often.

Depends on how you paint your flesh i think. I tend to highlight by slowly adding the final highlight color to the base color (as many do) so if maybe about halfway to the highlight level you started adding in a pinkish tone to the affected area (brige of the nose/across the bottom of the eyes) i would think that would produce a pretty stellar fresh sunburn look.

I think the key on that affect would be to keep it small and subtle. Seems like it would be very easy to screw up and make it too pronounced drawing the eye to the effect rather than simply adding to the model as a whole.

ah ok so you do want it to be actual burn o_O

as you can see its almost like reverse high light, with the normal part we high light actually be the red part.

and here a real photo just incase:

Can mix 20% red paint / ink into your basic flesh tone.
