WOW I just bought a house, and between moving everything in and work, Ive neglected my boyz. So I did a little work on them. I had to take the pics of my boss a bit differently then with a camera. SO total first try here I hope they turn out.
That being said, This is some of my boss Unta, HELP ME THINK OF A NAME to add as well because just Unta is bland. Its still in primer but hey at least you guys can say how bad it looks

I guess I like realism, and names which may actually inspire fear somewhere in the galaxy. The gimmicky, goofy "Facesmasha Rockthrowa" garbage is one of the reasons GW manages to keep me at a distance from time-to-time. A race as dark and warlike as the Orks of 40k should be allowed to take things seriously from time-to-time. They don't necessarily have to have a sense of humor about everything.

I totally agree with you on that one. Yes Orks are a wee bit funny to me, but in all reality they are all just raving mad murderers that find it fun to smash things. They are dark and gritty and I think that Unta facesmasha is a bit lame. Im leaning more towards Warlord Unta Octus(nice touch there i must say) something from planet who cares. Or even Overlord.... both have a grimacing sound to them.

I also love the new warboss. And the fact that its from the AOBR box set is just crazy. Not bashing the kit, but lets be realistic, the minis were made as cheap as possible with little to no conversion possibilities on their own. I love it, I thought it was a bit static so off went the klaw arm and gun and hand, added a iron gob, some heads on a chain for good measure and PRESTO new boss looking better then ever

Well said; I agree totally. I've never liked the idea of Orks as intergalactic football hooligans (soccer for the colonials). You can't be expected to take a race seriously if they're constantly labelled as the comic relief of the 40k universe.

They should be menacing. I imagine them (in my own mental utopia) to sound more like Jabba The Hutt, with maybe a little Predator thrown in for good measure. With this in mind, the names should sound verbally mangled, and certainly not translated into Imperial Gothic.

Sure beats the picture I have in my head of an Emperor's Champion, kneeling before an Imperial shrine, and chanting ''I will find and destroy BIGTOOF NECKBREAKA''.

As for Anti Mag your name idea tho is really cool. Personally Ive always thought of Orks being able to speak Imperial and Orkish. No real reason why I think that just seems like something they would do. And When they speak Orkish I can totally hear it sounding like you describe. I mean why not they have the Orkish "alphabet" in the codex, yet every mini and vehicle people build they spell things in "Imperial" maybe thats why I think they speak both. anywho thanks for the comments and ideas so far

well hey thanks! as for the pics yea I know they are a lil dark inspots. Thats because I literally have to video tape the mini with my awesome camcorder..... THEN hook it up to my TV, snap shots with my cellphone, and then email them to myself
Its a drawn out process that I wasnt even sure would work, so I did it at night using only the wall as the white drop. SO now that I know its a doable thing, Ill try better next time.

ok ok its suppose to be nice and sunny today(and possibly 40!hurray!!!) Ill take some pics and see if I can get the details a bit better. It will be tough-ish tho simply because the WHOLE mini is flat black.

Ok I tried it in the super shine of sunlight....... not really a big difference. I think really Im loosing picture quality from taking them off the TV like I have to.... that or my camera just cant focus well enough on the TV screen. Either way Ill have to use my brothers camera to take good pics. BUT heres a couple that turned out at least somewhat decent. In these 2 you can see the Untas trophies.

Try painting it first and then posting, it might be more discernible and we'd actually see some progress.

Yea actually that is what I was thinking as well. Im going to have to wait till I get my taxes back (hopefully in 20 days!) I need to buy all new paints and brushes and the whole nine yards. Its been awhile since Ive painted so I basically have nothing so when that happens Ill just make a new thread and show off my awesome skills of painting
