Hello guys I think I'm going to start warhammer together with some friends of mine but my question is, is this a good idea?

I'm probably going to do lizardmen (which is strange I'm a 40k ork player it would make more sense to starrt whfb orks)

Coure it's a good idea!

Is a fine old game, and I find it far more satisfying than 40k.

And as it happens, not only are the Lizardmen on the cusp of their new books release, but I am also looking at selling all my Skinks and Saurus....

Sorry i'm not really interested in second hand miniatures.

back on topic.
I think I'm going to start by buying a lizardmen bataljon, a box of saurus warriors, an old blood on cold one and of course the lizardmen army book.

Well, at least wait until te next book is out before committing. WFB is a lot of fun, but it takes more models than many 40K armies, so it's slightly more pricy. The ruleset is a little more mature and most of the armies were fairly well balanced until the release of the High Elves and everything after (especially Vampire Counts & Daemons) skewed the power curve.
