Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

So my dread rolls fire frenzy and it has a H. Flamer close to my own squad.

But in the section on template weapons it says, "Instead of rolling to hit, simply place the template so that its narrow end is touching the base of the model firing it and the rest of the template covers as many models as possible in the target unit without touching any friendly models."

While the Fire Frenzy rules says I have to shoot all my weapons at a friendly squad, the template rules prevent me doing it for the H. Flamer?

Thanks

no, this would be an exception as its telling you to fire on your own unit.
that rule was simply made to stop people killing thier own men / firing into combat.

No. You have to shoot. Fire frenzy overrides targetting (normally can't target friendly units ).
And why are you using dreads anyway?

I know its a rhetorical question but I'll answer anyway.
Because I had just converted a Wraithlord to be a corrupted chaos dread and I wanted to use the model in a battle at least once.

There's definately a lack of love for Chaos Dreads...me, I love the crazy sons o' bishes. I'm not the anal, 'must win' at all costs player that some are and I like having fun in my games. Chaos Dreads definately provide that in spades.
I had one go fire frenzy on it's brother dread, Double AC shots in the rear. Yep...the other dread blew. Fun stuff.

I liked Chaos Dreads in the last edition where they would do all those things, except target your own unit. I In fact had one in every game I played.

I mean you could shoot your own unit still, but only if there was no enemy unit in range.

I see no reason to have changed that to what it is now.

I can help my opponent destroy my units enough already with poor in game decisions. I dont need to make one before the game even starts and include one of these too.

Standing in the light, I see only darkness.

I definatly would not put any of my troops near a chaos dread with a heavy flamer.

Anyone who detests of chaos dreads such be forced to play one game with an ork list with 2 SAG's, 3 looted wagons and a mob of flash gits and then tell me if the craze rule is all that bad

Chaos dreads are fun. They aren't that hard to use. In all but the toughest tournaments, they are a great way to add flair and fun to a list.

Anyone saying they use dreads because they don't need to win at all costs is just pumping their ego here.

Chaos Dread rules aren't very good right now. I see no reason for the dread to need to kill things on it's side. The old rules were better and maybe they will get a cool plastic kit along with some better rules in 6 years.

Those of you asking yourself if I've played with one, yes I have. I used to play games with 2 to three of them. They never usually did anything bad but when they do it usually means I just lost a major objective or the game. It's just depressing when you suddenly lose control of one and it costs you the game. Because part of the fun of playing the game is winning.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

I find chaos dreads to be one of the few units where the fluff backs up the rules.

They are chained up monsters that are unleashed onto the battle field. Of course they might lash out at their masters that tormented them for the x amount of years they were kept chained down.

But to each his own. I mean, I guess chaos can be chaotic at times.

as trooper said, they live up to thier fluff, they are pissed off all the time, and do want to break stuff.
if your dumb enough to keep em in killing range of your own boyz then your a fool

or, make them CC deads and you wont have to worry ..... as much.

if i ever collected chaos i would take 2-3 dreads, simply because the models would look great (if converted from SM dreads), they are unpredictable (i play with ork, so im used to that)

other than that i just love all dreads of all types
