I'd really like to base my eldar army around the core concept of always only needing 2+ to wound. Why, I dunno. I just personally don't like expensive units.

Looking at some of the army lists and what has been played it seems that alot of people are stuck on the 3 Wraithlords yadyadayadayada list.

Something now that personally I don't really find that difficult to deal with as a marine player who uses at minimum 2 squads of Sternguard.

I don't really know what I am looking for. I want something different and Eldar seem the way to go. Competitively I am looking at playing some weird gak.

I dunno what are some decent viable armies that are not Seer council / Nidzilla Lite.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

You can build Eldar armies many different ways, and have fun with them. What kind of army do you like, shooty/assaulty, tanks, footslogging, mech, warlocks, wraithlords... There are so many types of themes you can do.

When you say viable list, are you looking for a list that will squash all who dare play you? I personally build an army around what I like to do, not if it is the FOTM "power" list.

My 1750 army is Biel Tan themed. I like different Aspect Warriors (2 DA, 1 Banshee, 1 scorpion, 1 Dark Reapers, 1 Fire dragon), I hate guardians with 12" shooting range, I like skimmers I take 2 waveserpents, falcon, and fireprism. I love my farseer with fortune/doom. I fill in the rest with small jetbike squads to steal objectives. I have fun playing my army. I win more then I lose, but it is not a killer list.

*edit* I posted this and then I saw that you said you don't want a seer counsel.... Oh well

Well base on the limited information you gave I made you a list:

HQ
Farseer on Jetbike, Doom, Fortune, SS, Runes of warding
5 x Warlocks, Jetbike, 1 x enhance, 1 x embolden, 3 x destructor
450pt

Farseer on Jetbike, mind war, Fortune, SS
5 x Warlocks, Jetbike, 1 x enhance, 1 x embolden, 3 x destructor
420pt

Elites:
6 x Firedragons in a WS with SS and TL ShC - 206pt

Troop
Pathfinders x 5 - 120pt
Pathfinders x 5 - 120pt
Pathfinders x 6 - 120pt

Heavy:
3 warwalkers 2 x scatterlasers 180pt
3 warwalkers 2 x scatterlasers 180pt
3 warwalkers 2 x scatterlasers 180pt

Total: 2000

Before you say there is not enough Anti-Tank, Remember that the seer counsel hits at str9 vs armour. And you can ram with the WS.

A cool themed army that I have been thinking about is the court of the young king.

Caveat: This army may be pretty crap, but it would look cool.

Avatar

2x Dire Avengers

Fire Dragons
Scropions
Banshees

Hawks
Spears
Spiders

Reapers

All units are max size, have exarchs and all the kit, comes in at around 2000 points. You would have lots of different colored units to paint to keep it fresh, and pretty much a sure bet no one else around you will be playing this list.

Gaurantee to get top marks for comp from most people, if you play competetively.

The eye of terror.

I like Reecius' idea, for one because I think it would be a challenging list to do well with, and would actually live up to the Eldar's reputation of being "hard to play." I would try to fit a farseer somewhere in that list though, if only for Doom. At 80 points a Doomseer is still one of the best HQs in the game.

One of the reasons we see tons of "bike seer council" lists is because they don't require much though to play with, but IMO playing Eldar then only taking super-tough units is a travesty... why not just play marines if you want tough guys?

Anyways, here's the fairly unorthodox list I've been using:

Farseer w/ Doom, spirit stones, Mind War (I'd like to use Eldritch storm... but the whole scatter/no scatter thing would make me worried I'm either cheating or ripping myself off every time I used the power).

Maugan Ra

11 storm guardians w/ 2 flamers, Destructor Warlock
Wave Serpent w/ shuriken cannon, TL-EML turret

6 Pathfinders

10 Dire Avengers (no exarch or upgrades)

10 Warp Spiders, twin-deathspinner exarch

3x War Walkers, 6x EML

Wraithlord w/ Sword and Bright Lance (thinking about changing it to EML/Scatter Laser)

5x Dark Reapers w/ EML exarch with fast shot

I want to add 10 Striking Scorpions in a Wave Serpent, but don't have the models yet.

The list is fun, but I'd say not super-competitive. The Storm Guardians are way better than common wisdom would indicate, even if they die easy, they've been game-winners every time I put them on the table.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Storm Guardians with flamers plus warlock with destructor are bad ass, jump out of a wave serpent and put a ton of wounds out there.

The Court of the Young King is an army I have wanted to play for ages but I could never get myself to dish out the dough for the models as it is not a cheap army and probably wouldn't be too good, to be honest. If you were a really good general or really lucky I think you could whomp on most mid level lists, but really tough lists would be an uphill battle I think, although I could be wrong as I have never played it. But in 5th ed, generally speaking, infantry armies are not what they were...unless you are green skinned.

The farseer would be a huge help, I agree, but if you are going totally by the fluff (which is funny considering I think fluff lists are usually garbage) it would just be the avatar and aspect warriors.

I think the army would be really visually stimulating too as it would have so many bright colors in it if you painted it GW standard.

Just a thought.

I am honestly looking at something like this

Farseeer ; guide

Farseer ; Guide

minimum warlock council

Elites

10 Fire Dragons w/ Wave Serpent

10 Fire Dragons w/ Wave Serpent

Troops

6 Eldar Jet Bikes 2 Shuriken; Warlock

6 Eldar Jetbikes, 2 Shuriken; Warlock

10 man guardian ; Warlock; Maybe Wave Serpent

10 man guardian ; Warlock , maybe Wave Serpent ; I like D Cannons

Fast Attack

10 Man Warpspiders

10 Man Warpspiders

H. Support

2 3 Man Scatter laser Warwalker

2 3 Man Scatter Laser Warwalker

Maybe a Wraithlord. I don't know.

Point being to deliver 2 full squads of Fire Dragons into a Deployment zone.

I don't know if this list is even viable.

I really like the idea of just having a completely mobile army ; but with a good solid fire base. No one uses shadow thinigs but for 90 points indirect fire is not that bad at Str. 6

Honestly ; I want my force to be more shooty than anything ,but have some decent h t h. I like mobility. I like the ability to take Jetbikes as troops.

3 7 man squads as my troops is not that bad I don't think
