So I'm editing the Protectorate of Menoth articles when I come upon the beauty of
the blessing of vengeance.

Did you know that it can use its Excessive Repel during its defensive strike (called Fired
Up)? That's two inches of "Get out of here!" before your opponent even gets to attack.
So it can stop a slam.

Woo.

Genius! I could have used that to keep my BoV from being crippled in my last game [the one I wrote the battle report on below] if I'd thought about it.

Too long using the Devout's defensive strike [in which why would you use the shield?] had gotten me conditioned to using the halberd.

Fired up with Excessive repel or Defensive Strike with its MAT debuff?

That's really amazing, honestly. With infuse, that's an effective MAT of 10 trying to hit something. It only gets it against the first enemy [well, against one enemy, doesn't have to be the first] that ends next to it, but that basically means the enemy is going to need two warbeasts/jacks going after you on the same turn in order to do any serious damage, and the one that hits you is still only going to get one hit off, unless they're lucky enough to take out the shield.
