Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

Seems like lately tons of people are wanting to play them.

Old codex, crappy rules....

(I'd like to think it is my tactica and everyone jumping on my bandwagon but I know better! )

...there sure isnt a shortage of people posting about their Grey Knights and throwing up armylists or asking for advice with them.

Whats the deal?

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

I love the fluff, but don't really think they fit as a 40K army, much more a scenario/inquisitor/dark heresy thing for me. But if I had a regular Daemon opponent, I'd probably have a small force just for fluff reasons

They got a significant boost in 5th I think;

Combi-Meltas became an effective way to deal with Tanks, even Skimmers in one shot deals, which you can take on your Justicars.

Land Raiders became ridiculously hard to stop, which means your super-elite troopers now can get into combat AND you can get some extra anti-tank in the list to boot.

Mix with:

Easy to Paint
Small Army Size
Pretty Models

And you have yourself something that's appealing and easy to acquire & start playing with.

Better landraiders in 5th, as voodoo boyz noted. Hadn't thought about the combi meltas, though.

Terminators became great assault units, because they survive a round in the open, which is necessary in 5th.

Wayland is selling a five-terminator box for 26.25 British pounds, which is about 29.00 Euros - compared to 45 Euros in Germany. Might have something to do with it;-)

Personally, I'd like to believe it's got to do with plague marines becoming the main troop choice for chaos, though.

Has anyone considered that we may be attracting more female gamers?

Being attracted to shiny objects is one of the seven similarities between women and fish after all.

That's not a fair statement. Guys like shiney just as much.

Kudos to anyone playing Grey Knights at the moment, certainly facing an uphill battle with them.

5th ed has helped them a bit alright with far more cover now and Land raiders becoming rock hard. But they did really need a hand as there a little on the expensive side.

Also sick models with an easy and effective paint scheme. Have plans to start an army with them once i finish my present one (I'm probably a competitor for the slowest painter on earth).

So yeah, the more the merrier I say.

Also deadshane, can you stick up a link to that tactica, I'd like to take a look at it.

Mookie.

Deadshane1,

You caught me...I'm stealing your thunder. That's why I want a couple of GK's for my SoB army. Yep, had those 'old school' GK termies forever just waiting for love.

I'm just being facetious man, GK are damn cool for SM.

It's in my articles. It's a little dated now with 5e nice and comfortable, but much still applies.

Deadshane: Nice tactica, thanks for that.

Grandmaster: Nice looking army, how'd it go on the field? Seemed a little short on anti-tank from what i could see.

I cannot say what exactly, but they have something of an element of `cool' about them. I have frequently considered getting a unit or two as allies for my Sisters, but could never work out how to fit such expensive squads in. I am still considering getting a unit or two, just to give it a spin.

Absolutely no doubt about that.

There is something to be said about running the "Emperor's Finest".

However, things sure arent easy up at the top....things like winning games.

They are fun to play with! I don't use them much but for the odd game they are nice.

They are about 50/50 win/loss which is fine with me.

As for anti tank yes they are light but a GK only army always will be. The dead and the melta on the LR are the options at range, but in CC the strength 6 give you some chance.

The best moments with this army are when you banish a greater demon with the Grandmaster.

I was doing my GK army when i first started posting on Dakka, hence the username
