More Kill Point Madness!
Ok, I really enjoyed writing up that Bat Rep, so here is another with my drop troop IG (Tartarus 151st Airborne) vs. a buddy’s Speedfreak Orks. I hope people enjoy reading it.

He won the roll off and opted to go first. My opponent sets up one Trukk Boy squad.
I set up my heavy bolter squad in area terrain, and my flamer squad and plasma gun HQ in my corner, opposite his truck.
Turn one he brings on his entire army, everything moves towards me full speed, Lootas and SAG bigmek move into some woods.
I bring on all my tanks. My drop troops in reserve and my Vets who are outflanking stay off board. My Heavy Bolter shoots at the lead Trukk, fails to do anything. The russ and the Bassie fire and kill 2 orks between them. The hellhounds and the demolisher fire and roll nothing but 1’s, not a single dead ork!
He charges my heavy bolter squad with his trukk boys, slaughters them. His Stormboyz, Koptas, Battlewagon and trukk all move full distance to my lines. His lootas and sag mek hose a hellhound.
I role terribly for reserves and only my hardened vet squad comes on, outflanking onto the wrong board edge. I fire their plasma guns at the deffkoptas, killing one. The remaining hellhound shoots again, hitting 7 orks with the template, killing only 2! Ouch, this isn’t going well. The demolisher fires and kills a few stormboys and the Russ and the Bassie miss as well. So far I have killed a total of 5 Orks in two turns of shooting, and now he is in range to charge.
He calls his WAAGH! And His Warboss and Nobs Charge my Demolisher, the Stormboyz and Truk Boys Charge my surviving Hellhound and his Truk boys that had killed my Heavy Bolter Squad Charge my Russ. He made a tactical error when he sent his Koptas after my Hellhound to shoot it with his rokkits, The Hellhound was not going to survive two PK nobs, he should have gone for the easy KP in the Hardened Vets. The Demolisher is destroyed and the Russ miraculously survives when he rolls three 1’s for penetrating hits. The Hellhound decided better late than never and explodes 6” killing 10 orks, my most successful attack yet! The nob bikers had moved back to defend the lootas from my drop troops. His lootas waste my flamer guard squad, sending the survivors off the board.
My turn three all of my reserves come on. I lose only one squad to bad deviation when they parachuted down into an angry squad of Lootas and rolled a 1 on the deepstrike misshap table. The surviving Jungle fighter squad landed right next to the Lootas and between the rapid firing lasguns, heavy flamer and flamer, wiped the lootas out leaving only the Bigmek. They were getting revenge for their buddies! One melta platoon HQ deviates away from the trukk they were going to blast but kill a deffkopta. The other melta platoon HQ deviates away from the Battlewagon, but land right next to the nob bikers. They shoot hot melta in the nob bikers’ faces and kill two, the surviving biker decides discretion is the better part of valor and rides his bike off the board. The first demo charge squad deviates away from the big mob of boys that had just wasted my tanks but is in range of the deffkoptas. I decide to risk not throwing the demo charge and flamer and lasgun another deffkopta to death. The other demo charge squad lands on target and toss there demo charge onto the nobs. Str 8 ap2 man portable ordnance weapon, gotta love it. It hits, annihilates the nobs (should have had cybork bodies!). Go team! The plasma command squad moves into double tap range on the trukk boys that had attacked my Russ, waste 6 of them. The hardened vets drop another Kopta, the surviving kopta decides to join the nob biker off the board for some tea and runs off. My Russ goes 12” away from the trukk boys and thanks the Emperor he is still functioning. The Bassie decides to actually hit something and lands a pie plate on the storm boyz, killing most of them and sending the surviving nob off to join the tea party off the board.
His army just took a royal shellacking as happens with drop troop guard. They hit like a ton of bricks the turn they arrive. His Truk boy squad charges my plasma command squad and wastes them. His Warboss tries to charge my speeding Russ but roles crap on his difficult terrain. His remaining boys charge my demo charge squad that had just hosed his nobs and waste them. His battlewagon atttmpts to blast my russ with rokkits and the Zapp but fails to do anything. The Trukk is surrounded by threats and he does his best to get away from as many of them as possible. His Big mek decides not to risk shooting the SAG at the Jungle fighters as they were so close to him and charges, bludgeoning one to death then promptly getting shanked prison style by my catachans! These guys cost 91 points and took out an entire squad of lootas and a bigmek with only a single casualty!
My surviving demo charge squad waste his remaining boys with another accurate throw and two flamers. One melta gun squad moves up to waste the trukk, the other puts 4 meltas on the backside of the battlewagon and destroy it. The Russ moves away from the warboss and between it and the bassie waste the last boys squad. At this point all he has left is his warboss and he can’t reach any of my units so we call the game.

My friend vowed to never take a zap gun again or go without a deffrolla. He also said he would bump up the bikers and nob squads and make sure they had an invul save. It was a great game though, I thought I was a dead man turn two unless I got a good drop on turn three, which is exactly what happened.

Another great game vs. a different speedfreak Ork player in my club. IG vs. Orks is always a really fun game as things are just getting blown up and killed all over the place.
Mission: Seize Ground, Spearhead Deployment. We rolled 5 objectives, and ended up with one in each corner, one in the middle.

I won the role off and opted to go first thinking I will get some shots off on his transports and secure some objectives. I set up all my tanks, and my two H.Bolter squads and kept my vets which would outflank and my drop troops in reserve. I made two huge mistakes here as I was just being stupid and set up my two troops squads in position to take two flanking objectives but left the objective in my corner held only by tanks, which obviously are not scoring. Just one of those dumb things you do from time to time.
He opted to put everything in reserve.
Turn one I moved my two infantry squads onto objectives and supported them each with a hellhound.
Objective Count: IG: 2, Orks: 0
His turn one nothing happens, obviously.
Turn two I get lucky and none of my reserves come in. Having deepstrikers come down on an empty board is bad, bad, bad.
His turn two he gets shoota boyz, two trukk boy squads, lootas, and warbikers. His Bikers and both Trukk Boy squads come in off his table edge and he calls a WAGGH!! Hoping to get far enough to just catch my tanks in a charge, which I stupidly had deployed too far forward. He rolls poorly for his WAGGH! And they fall short. His lootas move into a wood to fire next turn and sit on his corner objective. The Shoota boyz who were meant to ride in the battlewagon hoof it up as far as they can go.
Objective Count: IG: 2, Orks: 1
I get my demo charge units, melta HQ’s, one jungle fighter squad but not my second plasma HQ or my vets. One melta gun HQ squad deviated over near the lootas and melts one of them. The other melta gun squad deviates to the shootas and melts two. The jungle fighter squad deviated into the middle of the board to sit and await a choppy death. My Hellhound roasts 8 Orks in one of his trukk boyz squads and the Demolisher blasts most of the boyz in the other nearby Trukk squad. My demo charge squads flamer some more of the trukk boys but one of the demo charge guys must have gotten nervous because his demo charge scattered back onto his squad and blew most of them up. Fumble! The other demo charge was a better aim however and plastered all but the nob. Unfortunately neither trukk boy squad breaks. I pull my heavy bolter squad on the right flank back a bit to try and stay out of charge range of his warbikers or at least force him to come through dangerous terrain to charge me. My hellhound on the other flank bar-b-ques some lootas and the heavy bolter squad on that objective guns one down. The Bassie misses the shoota boys as does the Russ.
His stormboys, last Trukk boys and battle wagon come on, but no warboss. His surviving nob from one of the trukk boys charges my hellhound and destroys it, the survivors from the other trukk boys squad charges my Demolisher and destroy it. The warbikers charge my heavy bolter squad and lose one to dangerous terrain and the brave guardsmen hold! His shootas fire their big shootas at my heavy bolter squad on the left flank objective and they break and run off the board, the cowards! His lootas shoot the hellhound and stun it. His stormboys come flying in towards the same hellhound. His Trukks near my flank objective zip behind a hill near the objective. His newly arrived Trukk boy squad shoots toward the central objective.

Turn 4 sees me rolling ones for the plasma HQ and the vets but getting my last jungle fighter squad, which deviates semi close to the lootas but role terribly and only roast two. My demo charge squads murder the trukk boys that had killed my tanks, and the remaining heavy bolter squad hangs on for another round of combat with the warbikers, managing to kill one of them! The Hellhound moves 12 inches to try and avoid getting klawed by the stormboyz. My Bassie whiffs again, the Russ however blows up the Trukk boy squad. My melta command squads nuke a few more orks to no real effect. The jungle fighter squad in the middle of the board try to hide and shoot some of the remaining Trukk boys, killing a handful of them.
His turn 4 sees his Warboss finally join the fight to charge and kills a melta squad. His stormboys charge my hellhound and the nob gets two sixes to hit, destroying it. His warbikes die to the mighty guardsmen in close combat! They dance a little happy jig. His last Trukk boy squad charge and kill my jungle fighter squad in the open. His lootas kill a demo charge squad, the shoota boys kill the other melta squad.
Objective Count: IG: 1, Orks: 1
My turn five the vets and command HQ finally decide to grace us with their presence. The vets outflank onto the side I wanted them for once and blast a trukk to dust. Realizing what a bone head mistake I made, I drop my plasma HQ onto my own objective, but they deviate off target, son of a…! My Heavy bolter guardsmen hunker down on the objective trying to look very inconspicuous. My Bassie fires and misses, yet again. The Russ blasts a few shootas but not enough to force a moral check.
His remaining trukk boys squad run onto the objective formerly held by my cowardly heavy bolter squad that ran away. His storm boys make a dash for my objective and roll a 5 for the rokkit pack role, bringing them too close for comfort. His lootas waste my last demo charge squad and his warboss turbo boosts towards me just in case. And, worst of all, his surviving Trukk shoots its rokkit at my heavy bolter squad sitting on my objective and kill one, they break and run 11” towards my table edge, doh!
Objective Count: IG: 0, Orks: 2
We roll to see if the game goes on and it does, there’s still hope! I move my plasma command squad through difficult terrain and run them and get 11” to get them onto my objective! My vets blow up his Trukk, but too late as the falling back squad high tails it off the board. The bassie fires on the trukk boyz sitting on his the objective and hits for the first time all game! The boyz pass their pin check but fail their moral check even with the pole and run away, sweet! Now the game is tied, if I can only keep his stormboys off of my command squad. I move my Russ so that it is in the way of the oncoming rokkit pack loonies and blow a few of them up with the battle cannon.
His turn, the stormboys get a 5” rokkit pack move, and make the charge, killing my command squad. We call the game as I have no more scoring units remaining.
Final Objective Count: IG: 0, Orks: 1
Well, I played horribly and deserved to lose, but it was still a fun game and came down to the very last combat which is always a great way to end the game. Next time though, the boys will be getting some revenge.

Good comeback in the first game. When I saw what the Orks were doing to you after the second turn I thought the game was in the bag for the Ork player. Your drop wiped out most of his force in one turn!
