Will the Lizardmen's Blade of Realities work against the Steam Tank? There is nothing in the BoR rules that say it doesn't work against targets that are immune to Psychology, and the Steam tank says it auto passes any Characteristic tests, but Ld tests are not Characteristic test. Though it would be great, I think it might be a little cheap to make it take 5 Ld tests every turn or die, even on a Ld 10. but then again I also think the steam tank is pure cheese so.......

F the stank! I'd say it works unless there's something in the stank's description that prevents it.

I usually have the same feeling. the Steam tank usually tears me up. But Even I think that making it take 5 Ld tests because my attacks hit automatically is a little cheesy. You roll enough Ld test and your gonna fail. Even my High Elf Prince on a Dragon has panicked before.

Leadership tests ARE characteristic tests, and as such, the Steam Tank will automatically pass them.

NO, Leadership test are not characteristic tests. says so in the BRB, Pg. 5 or 6. Two different things. and No, the Steam Tank is not immune to Magic Items, but is immune to Spells that have no strength value. Says nothing about Magic items.

The area you're referencing is only describing that Leadership tests are done slightly differently than other characteristic tests - use two dice instead of one.

Leadership is still a characteristic, and Leadership tests that aren't Psychoogy/Break Tests are still characteristic tests.

All the 'pass all characteristic test' items that I know of have to specifically allow ld tests. So I'd say yes, the stank ignores it.

Actually, Mekboy, the Crimson Amulet the wearer to auto-pass all characteristic tests except Leadership. Given this specific example, it seems more than clear that the Steam Tank auto-passes Leadership.

All items that state the character passes all Characteristic tests have the exclusion of Leadership Tests listed in their rules. The Stank does not have this provision and thus will pass all leadership tests it must take.

LD being a charateristic, so it doesent work :(

im still trying to find a way to kill the bloody things myself.
short of a large krox unit and 2 steggy's running at it im not too sure how to handle it, i usually pretend its not there and keep away from it.

I play Empire and run a Stank in my tourny lists, if you can put a wound or two on it its effectiveness declines dramatically, more than 4 and its basically a giant immobile hunk of metal (granted it still causes terror) Cannons, bolt throwers all cause great pain to me (as Did Karl Franz one game)

Makes me sad that stuff like Cloying Quagmire doesnt work on it is that is true..

That's only for spells.

A carnasaur would be a good choice I would think, especially after it blood frenzies for the extra attack. The only problem I see with that is you're countering a point sink with a point sink.. And due to a carnasaur's point cost, your strategy and tactics army wide have to change to be effective with it's inclusion..

DO NOT run steggadons at it, it will do impact hits to you first. that's just brutal. Burning Blade is nice for the extra negative to the armour save, and if you happen to wound it with the Engine of the Gods there is no armour save. Krox aren't bad, but they aren't as good as they used to be.

Lore of Metal is fun or poison. Roll lots of dice and te 1s will come and remember once you have knocked 2 or 3 wounds off of it then it becomes loses it's effectiveness in inreasing amounts

Poison won'e work against the stank because it is a war machine.

Poision won't work against the Stank because you never roll to hit.

Edit: in combat that is -- Shooting go with what Arion stated.
