Greetings all. I know these posts are annoying but I do need some input to help me pick an army. I been playing 40k as Orks and at my local gaming store there is usually also a Warhammer fantasy group and I want to get in those games and start losing..... I mean playing . Now I don't want to start a fantasy Ork & Goblin army since I already play them in 40k. The armies I been looking into are Ogre Kingdoms, Skaven, or Bretonnia.

Ogre Kingdoms I like since its the complete opposite of what I play now, I also like their fluff and design. But I watched a game of them and they seem kinda boring to actually play. With only a few guys with only a few options doesn't seem that great. Of course this could also be due to the Ogre Kingdom player who just built the army asap just to play it, so I might be missing more to them. He even offered to sell his models to me (he collects a bit of every army it seems).

Skaven seem right up the same alley as my 40k Orks. Large numbers of super weak guys that rely on numbers and sacrifice to win the day. I usually like weapons with random powers and abilities but my luck with such is really horrible (My Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun suicided in 6 out of my 7 first games with him). So far through their only strengths I'm seeing in them is their numbers and their heavy ranged weapons (Warp Lightning Cannon and Ratling gun).

Bretonnia is the final army that really interests me. I always been interested in Knights (I do have about 100 real swords, axes, spears, etc collected) and they seem to be a balance of the two above armies. High power knights with mass infantry. I do however don't care for any Pegasus and not sure if that will really hurt me or not. I don't really know anything else about them through other than they cool pretty cool.

If I can get some input on how each does in melee, ranged, magic, etc I would be most grateful. Not asking for numbers or stats but just on general game styles, strengths, weaknesses, and other options that I might not really know about.

I would shy you away from Ogres, since they really have only one competetive build.

Skaven are my personal fav, and they are getting a new book sometime this summer.

Brets seem like a one trick pony to me.... but I don't have a lot of experience with them so maybe someone else will have something more positive to say.

I would say definitely pick Skaven for:
its fun, its tactical flexible, tons of variations.

The only con side i guess is painting all the skaven slaves lol.

Well an other question about Skaven then, from the battle reports I been reading they seem to alwas be focused around one clan. Is this a requirement and limiting factor for the Skaven?
