ok in april my parents are giving me back my $250 that i lent them three years ago, I'm planning to go on a shopping spree in Games Workshop two quick questions:
1 should i buy it online and have them ship it to my store
2 what necron boxed set is the best for the money? should i get the phalanx, or the 2 monoliths and the other large necron set and then buy paint and green stuff and some other metal models?

1. Buy it from the Warstore (or similar online store) and save yourself 20% over getting it at GW, might as well stretch that $250 as far as you can

2. Going by GW retail values, the phalanx gives you $330 worth of models for $200, whereas two monoliths and the battleforce gives you $240 worth of models for $200. So i would use the online-store discount to buy a phalanx for $200 (less 20%) and a second monolith for $55(less 20%) as that would give you a larger force, and still fit within your $250 budget (even with shipping)

Yeah, I can't recommend buying from GW directly. Not because of bad service or anything, in fact they've always had stellar service imo. I'd recommend using that money in a FLGS instead, even if they have to special order you an item or two. If you can buy it online at a discount, I'm all about saving some money also but I try to do that only if there is a brick and mortar store behind the site. No particular reason mind you, I still like supporting a FLGS as much as possible.

However if you do buy it from GW online they will ship it to your local GW shop free, thus saving you a lot of postage.
