Well,

We had a previous thread on this topic which had quite a bit of information regarding Gorilla Tactics and the fact that they are no longer taking orders and appear to be closing down shop.

Unfortunately, a few posters started to drag the thread off-topic despite the fact that it is important news that those with orders pending with the company would definitely be interested in seeing.

Soooo, I was going to delete all the off-topic posts to keep the thread on-topic and relevant and in my sleep-deprived haste I managed to (like an idiot) delete the whole thread.

So I'm sorry for those who took the time to post in the thread before, perhaps you can share you information and experiences again for the benefit of everyone. My sincerest apologies for wasting your time with a boneheaded mistake on my part.

Anyway, I'll repost what I had posted previously: Gorilla Tactics has indeed contacted me and asked me to remove their banners from the site and mentioned that they did not want to spend any more money. That's all the information I can personally attest to, but others definitely have more information that hopefully they will share again.

Sorry again!

I was wondering what happened...

Again, PLEASE keep this thread on topic.

A lot of people are currently out a LOT of money, so any and all pertinent information will be greatly appreciated.

Ugh.

I love you guys, really I do.

But clearly neither of you are currently owed anything by GORILLA TACTICS.

Please don't get this thread deleted too.

I'm still owed stuff by Gorilla tactics. Seriously, have you made your SHIPMENT e-mail yet? I'll tell my entire story in detail right now I guess.

My friend and I ordered about $300 worth of stuff from them. I was getting a bunch of stuff for my space marine army, and I was buying him a bunch of stuff to get him started on a Necrons army, because I owed him some money anyway, and we like to combine shipping.

Anyway, through the scare of "Gorilla tactics is down, maybe they're scammers after all!", I got worried, and placed a SHIPMENT e-mail as advised. It took a bit for the guy to get back to me, but when he did he explained the situation. He was going to ship out the stuff he had (oddly almost all of the space marine stuff was in, but he had none of the necrons stuff). I agreed to a bunch of items, as well as a few extra items, because given that his business is going down and he's selling off all his collectibles, I would rather get a few extra models I wasn't planning on buying, rather than making him pay back the leftover of the money.

Anyway, we settled that through the phone, and I told him I would need some time to think of other models I actually wanted to purchase. He e-mailed me this morning saying that he would try and call me this evening to sort out the last of the models he is going to send me, and hopefully in a few weeks, I will have my models at my door. If I get them, I will gladly post back here. If not, then I will admit to being scammed, though I personally feel that this is unlikely, especially after the big Black Friday super sale that SEVERAL people were satisfied with.

Are they not shipping any pending orders they have?

G Tactics doesn't actually owe me anything, but I can vouch for them. They are not scammers or trying to steal anyone's money. From what I gathered from the now deleted thread a personal issue arose that has prevented gorilla tactics from functioning. I have made a few orders through them in the past and have always had above satisfactory service.

I can't speak for those who do have pending orders, but I would say be patient as the owner sorts out all the remaining orders left to fill.

Yes, I HAVE made my "SHIPMENT" e-mail and it looks like 50% of the miniatures I'm owed are in and will ship... sometime.

I was told they wold ship yesterday, but they did not.

I have sent ANOTHER "SHIPMENT" e-mail today, with no reply yet.

I have also not been told what will happen with the other 50% of my order.

Up until this point, I've had no issue whatsoever with GT, so I am hopeful that everything will work out.

The lack of and/or spotty communication to date is frustrating, but understandable.

Still, at some point, he really should make a statement and 'bulk e-mail' his client list.

Yes, I totally agree that the communication has been pretty sparse and dodgy, but I'm cutting the guy a lot of slack here, because I know when I have personal issues, I have major issues just functioning on a day by day basis. I wouldn't care at all about some kids plastic minis. Then again, that's why I don't own a gaming store.

UPDATE

On Sunday, I was told that my miniatures would ship on Monday.

On Monday when I asked if they shipped, I was told no, but that my shipment would go out on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, repeated attempts to confirm shipping and/or get a tracking number went unanswered.

The frustrating part is that I'll get a e-mail saying that stuff will ship, but then it never does and then it is back to radio silence.

I've just about had it and am ready to post everything I've heard, because the details don't add up or make sense and I'm at my limit.

Nevermind the fact that I still haven't got an answer on the rest of my order that was still back ordered.

At this point, I'd be happy to receive what is allegedy already in his hands and allegedly all ready to ship.

Okay, I gave him an ultimatum the first time we had phone contact. I needed a DC number by last Monday or I was going through paypal. If youre shipping anyway its not that hard to do.
I then gave him an email warning Monday morning, and another email with additional 24 hours Tuesday and yesterday.

NOT good.

I've ordered twice from GT since their Black Friday sale, and both times I've not had a problem, although their turnaround time to shipping was a little slower than someone like Neil at The Warstore.

I'll miss 'em. That discount was terrific, and I didn't mind being patient for some savings.

Their website is no longer functioning and I was hoping to get in contact with them. I do have an order that is still pending. Can someone post the methods they have used to contact them?

Thanks,

Hi all -
I haven't dealt with Gorilla Tactics but that's only because my budget prevented me from doing so. From what I've read previously, he seems to be a decent sort and many of you chose to do business with him because of that reputation and the recommendations of others here.

Now, also from what I've read previously, it seems like something tragic has happened in his life. I understand it's difficult to give the benefit of the doubt when you have money invested but, please, try to be patient with him. I don't know his situation but if he has a loved-one in the hospital (someone mentioned his wife was in a car accident) responding to threatening e-mails, let alone trying to run a dying business will be the last thing on his mind.

If you don't trust that he will, or can, complete your orders, cancel them with your credit cards to get the money back.

Just my 2 cents having been faced with some unexpected circumstances myself.

I hope things work out for everyone, including Gorilla Tactics.

Let's keep all posts in this thread fact-based, please. Makes it easier to sort through things if you're trying to resolve open orders.

Thank you.

EDIT - This means the topic of people who are currently dealing with Gorilla Tactics. Asides, opinions and good references are off-topic. I will be cleaning up the thread, including some of my posts.

Just out of curiosity in situations like this, would telling Gorilla tactic to cancel the orders work?

Might cut down the number of stressed buyer along with himself no?

Sadly, I don't think it would.

I'm fairly sure that the merchandise HAS been ordered and is either waiting to be shipped from his location or waiting to be shipped to him from his distributor's location.

As an update to my status with him:

On Sunday, I was told that my miniatures would ship on Monday.

On Monday when I asked if they shipped, I was told no, but that my shipment would go out on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, repeated attempts to confirm shipping and/or get a tracking number went unanswered.

On Wednesday I received an e-mail stating that he had "made a ton of shipments" but apparently not mine, but that he thought he'd be "making the rest in the morning".

On Thursday I've asked for confirmation (and a tracking number if possible!) of shipping, but no word yet.

I've even gone so far as to help cover any additional shipping costs, once I receive confirmation and a tracking number, but nothing yet.

Guys, based on what I've seen on Btown, things are falling into a certain well-defined "pattern" of activity that many of us have seen before. Based on what has been shared, things don't look good for any of you.

Your best bet is partial recovery based on negotiating with the seller. The problem is that he's stonewalling you. Whether this is intentional / malicious / screwup / whatever, doesn't really matter anymore. The question is what you do going forward.

If you paid by check or money order, you'll probably have to file small claims court. You'll probably win a default judgment, but good luck on collecting from him. Net result after time and expenses is probably zero recovery.

If you paid by PayPal, most likely that money is long gone. Even if PayPal finds in your favor, it's not likely there will be any money for them to recover. If so, it's a first-come, first-served thing, and there are a lot of other guys trying to pick up their pieces. But there is a small chance here, if you act quickly.

If you paid by credit card, you have actual protection, and can force a chargeback based on fraud protection. IMO, this is your best bet for recovery.

So overall, things are NOT good.

The most important thing is that you don't do anything stupid / illegal. That means:
- do *NOT* harass with lots of late-night calls
- do *NOT* threaten legal action
- do *NOT* threaten *illegal* action
- do *NOT* show up in person and demand stuff without a lawyer present.

It's just money and stuff. Nothing to go to jail over!

Unfortunately for me, I paid by credit card, received 75% of my order and now I'm waiting for the rest of it.

Alpharius wrote:Do you honestly think that filing a claim would be easier than getting Gorilla Tactics to just deliver what they committed to delivering, and what they've already accepted payment on?

When, like you say, that "they are more than reasonable in finding a resolution to any problems, and that you do get what you paid for in the end"?

Really?

Wait wait, i think people are just worried that the close down is due to financial reasons. They might be bringing up
claims , incase GorillaT doesnt have the items / financial strength to reimburse what they owed the customer.

I've heard some snippets as to what happened from Gorilla Tactics himself, and some through other people.

Since he hasn't posted anything publicly, I've held off from doing so too.

I've been getting JUST enough communication to keep me hopeful that I'll eventually see most of my pending items.

Up until right now, I've had nothing but great service, which makes this whole fiasco all the more hard to understand.

We'll see.

Another Gorilla Tactics Update:

On Thursday I've asked for confirmation (and a tracking number if possible!) of shipping, but no word yet.

NO word on Thursday.

On Friday, the same questions asked, the same offers made (pay for shipping costs once a confirmation of shipping and a tracking number is received).

*************************************

Since a "ton of shipments" were (allegedly) made on Wednesday, has anyone received confirmation of this yet?

Especially in the form of a tracking number?

Welp, since everything went as a I expected, no DC number was sent to me even after several days of warnings and extended deadlines, so I filed a paypal claim. Got the package yesterday, it has a DC sticker on it. About 70% of what I ordered is in there.

So its up to him now. I am leaving the claim open. He can refund what I am owed or he can let me keep it I dont care. Im tired of being the one worried about it.

Whats a DC sticker? discontinued? and what does it do?

A "DC" sticker is a "Delivery Confirmation" sticker - it's a tracking number that anybody can use to see whether a package was shipped and delivered.
