Colour their ichor, innards etc different disgusting colours?

Purple, red, orange, white (like a replicant from Aliens!)

Why don't you paint them in various degrees of decay? Start with a flesh colured squad, then a squad with a green tint, then a brown and green combo, and finally black. I'm assuming you're running a few squads, or else this idea is pretty redundant.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Base each squad with a similar (and obvious) element.

Like squad 1 has skulls, squad two has bones (the ghoul sprue has a ton of arm/leg bones on it), etc, etc.

I'm doing mine on like so:

Note the "2" decal on the base with the rhino door. Each squad will have a coresponding # to it. I figure it's easier that way. Of course, if you're doing yours on a jungle base or something similar, you'll have to figure something else out.

I'm lazy when it comes to my Chaos Space Marines and Daemons, since I like them to have a really coherent color scheme I just paint roman numerals on the base rims. Surely some of the other suggestions would be far superior.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I actually paint the squads different colors. Different shades of greens and browns to separate them out.
