Turn 1-
The Guard Win the toss-up, and make Orks deploy first. The orks deploy with bikers in the center, and Ork mobs on the flanks. The Imperials Deploy center heavy, massing armour in 2 groups. Between these two groups are the lead Command unit, and a fire base of units. ork kommandos plotted a sneak attack, and ratling took up position in a bit of ruined building.

Ork Turn 1 starts with Wazdakka and his biker boyz turbo boosting a maximum 24 inches straight at the enemy. All the mobs begin to run forward, gaining ground. The only Ork shooting comes from Wazdakka, who is crazy enough to shoot a weapon while turbo-boosting. He directs his shots at a Chimera, and scores a hit on the tracks, immobilizing it. The ork Kommandos, who had snuck in behind a bunker, charged into the lines of the guardsmen, killing an entire squad, only to be wiped out by small arms after the melee.

Imperial Turn 1 starts the eruption of battle cannons, and the firing of Lasguns. Little to no movement is done, but all barrels were firing. The autocannon teams on the left flank shot at the ork trukk full of nobs, that was karreening towards the lines. The powerful cannons easily punctured the trukk's "armor", and destroyed it in a burst of flame. The other Autocannons concentrated fire with 2 battle tanks at wazdakka and his bikes, killing over half in a wave of good dice. The barrels were smoking, but the orks were still coming, so the guardsmen in the front middle braced for impact.

Turn 2-
The Ork Master-Boss Thraka is known for his ferocity, and leadership. The ork player invoked Thraka's special rule to declare a maximum strength waaagh charge. All the orks lurched a full 12 inches forward, pulling the bikes well into melee, and advancing the rest. The ork shooting of the turn was negligible, due to the excitement of a waaagh. The melee however, was brutal, as wazdakka split off from the other orks in order to hunt a dangerous prey: Tanks. Wazdakka charged at the Chimera he had immobilized, and using his Power Klaw like a Can-opener ripped into the hull of the APC, and drove his razor-bladed chainsaw motorcycle though the tank, destroying it. The other orks slammed into the squad with the lascannon, engaging it in a hand to hand, in order to stop it from firing. The orks threatened to overrun the squad, but the leadership of the nearby officer forced the line to be held.

The Imperials reformed, and once again opened fire. This turn, the autocannons, were endowed with blessed dice, as a torrent of 5+6s spelled doom for at least 10 greenskins. With the powerful waaagh, the orks on the left assault flank had come close enough to be in range of the hellhound; an armoured super flamethrower. Gouts of liquid flame bathed the orks, as they were burned in cleansing fire. The Battle tanks concentrated fire at the rear of the ork central advance, blowing the Boom-Kannon off the looted Tank, and Destroying 6 Burna Boyz. Wazdakka gained his first wound, as a plasma bolt seared though his armour.

Turn 3-
The boyz were now close enough for the longer range ork weapons to do damage, and they opened up. Orks are not the most accurate of creatures, and few shots hit, but those that did were likely to inflict casualties on the guardsmen. The bikers in the middle became caught up in a bayonet wall provided by the Close Order Dill doctrine of the Imperials, and scored few wounds. The Cadians themselves failed to infict major damage, but did down one bike. Wazdakka roared triumphantly as he drove his bike out the other end of the APC, and headed towards his next target: a Battle Tank. He swerved to the side of the moving tank, and with one swing of his mighty power Klaw, ripped into the hull, incapacitaing the vehicle.

With Wazdakka in their lines, things looked grim for the guardsmen, but they continued to fight on, downing even more orks with deadly ranged firepower. The Lead Commander saw his men in need, and charged into the melee with the bikes, killing one of them. The hellhound 's gouts of flame burned more orks, and the remaining battle tanks lowered their guns, swivled their turrets, and took aim at wazdakka. One of the shells made contact, scoring another wound on the mechanized motor monster. With only one wound remaining, wazdakka's next action may be his last.

Turn 4-
The remaning boyz (about 1/3) screamed with delight as they leapt over sandbags and rubble to melee the squishy humans. An ork throws 4 melee dice to a guardsman's one, so the initial melee was nothing but a rout of the imperial front line. The nob squad was advancing in on the other Chimera, and thraka was wadling along at his slower than the average ork pace. The ork small arms were now in range, and the ork squad equiped with shootas opened fire with about 36 or so dice. Wazdakka zoomed his Bike at the guardsmen of the left attack flank, hoping to survive their fire in order to melee them.

The ratling snipers, remaining mostly hidden throughout the game, gave one last dire attempt before their location was overrun. Natural Sharpsooters, the hobbits took aim and sniped down 3 advancing ork nobs, causing them to be pinned for a turn, halting their charge. The hellhound began to backpedal, as the horde of green grew nearer. The troopers of the left attack flank turned to face the fierceome enemy, and opened fire with close to 40 shots, but the high toughness rating of the warboss, allowed him to survive. In the middle, the Heroic Officer ripped down yet another ork, but failed to destroy the last remaning biker nob. The second in command, who had ordered the men to stand and fire at wazdakka charged forward to meet the feirceome creature head on. Equiped with a powersword, he would ignore the ork's armour if he could score a wound though the high toughness. Due to wazdakka's powerclaw, he was unable to strike until after the officer had attacked. the junior officer swung, and hit, then rolled to wound, and revealed a six, causing the ork motorcycle menace to be destroyed.

Turn 5-
Already stuck into melee, the boyz just continued to eat through imperial lines, inflicting 50% casualties in one turn. The remaining biker nob went down fighting, as he killed one of the Heroic officer's bodyguards before falling. Due to the outstanding ork shootas on the left flank, there was nothing to charge, but it was unimportant, because by this point, a solid ork victory was assumed.

The end score was 8-4 in favout of the orks, a solid margin of victory.

It was good to get 40k back on a club table, and good for a new army to show up. We all hope Josh's Orks return for another Waaagh. Perhaps next time, the Inquisition, or Space marines will be there to face them in an objective based game.

Sounds like a good fight, we all love the trade mark IG vs ork image.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Thanks for the comment. I'm a big fan of IG vs. orks as well. Hopefully, at some point GW will issue an IG vs. Orks starter box, to represent 2 of the largest combat forces in the game, rather than having everyone and their cousin playing with the super elite master warriors.
