I have always like small games of 40k
so I have came up with a "small game" based campaign
- 350 pts
- must have transporter (if army has one)
- may not be more than 20 models
- doesn't have to be from the same army (keep this reasonable no csm and marines but imperials with imperials csm with deamons is fine.)
- do-not need to have entire unit like you could just take an apothecary
- do not need unit coherency
- when a character is killed you loose it for the rest of campaign unless you buy it back
- when you kill an enemy character you get the points cost of the character to spend

that is my campaign I was wondering what every one thought of it.

Interesting concept. But let me get this straight. In your description you stated that you must have a transport. Just wondering why?

to account for the fluff of moving around and makes you have to account for tanks

It sounds kind of like Chaos Warbands. I would recommend a slightly higher point count, since there is permanent death, and limit them to one army to avoid ending up with complex, multi-codex armies that will make it harder to coordinate such small games.

character - the ones in the books, ICs, or any model?

Nids have no characters, and only one IC (Broodlord), yet a ballance tyrant could be very good at IC hunting.

i really like that idea actually
maybe have 400-500 points and up to 25-30 models

SM blood ravens (2000)
orks (1000)
tyranids (2000)

kudos. This is the EXACT idea I was looking for! The one teensy detail I would change is put the troop count up to 25 and the points limit to 400.

For your little campaign, I suggest you read the old rule of "40K in 40Min." They were little rule/restriction for building small army (400pts) but keeping it playable/balanced.

it was something like this:

400pts.
You must take one Troop choice.
You may take a maximum of One HQ choice.
You may spend remaining points from any part of the codex.

No character or beast may have more than two wounds.

No Special Characters.

No 2+ saves.

No vehicles with a total Armour Value greater than 33.
(Front Side and Rear added together.)

A 20 model limit might be harsher for horde armies...maybe look at adapting those Kill Team rules?

I like the idea though as smaller games have a totally different feel. You'd almost be approaching a Necromunda and Inquisitor level with such armies.

'Crons can't play in this list, as they have 1 transport, they don't make allies, and mono's kind of a ghetto transpo to begin with.

I'd say a limit of 350 points and the requirement of a transport gives enough of a limit to the number of models and still accomodate races with cheap troops (like guard, and orcs). Otherwise these forces will be full of elite troops. For Necrons, an exception could be made, maybe they always "deep strike"?

350 points is exactly 20 space marines and a rhino, is it?

Daemons can't play... no transports at all. Of course they actually do always deep strike...
